Edwin Glen “Johnny” Grimes, son of Carl Earnest Grimes and Mildred Bell, was born on March 7, 1938 in Bernie, Missouri, and departed this life on March 1, 2021 at his home in Three Way, Tennessee, at the age of 82, just shy of his 83rd birthday.
Mr. Grimes was a former supervisor of the Ceco Door Company in Chicago, Illinois and Milan, Tennessee. He worked for Ceco Door for 44 years and retired in 2008 in Three Way, Tennessee. Mr. Grimes was baptized in his youth in Gideon, Missouri and was of the Baptist faith.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Smith-Parrish on October 15, 1988. She survives of the home.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Brannan Long (Brent) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and by three sons, Jeffrey Grimes and Joey Grimes of Milan, Tennessee, and Edwin G. “Eddy” Grimes (Cristela) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his step-children, Ginger Beaird (Rick) of Bernie, Missouri, Tony Parrish (Cheryl) of Eureka, Missouri, and Angela Cross (Kevin) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He is survived by eight grandchildren: Drake Long, Brielle Rowlan (Alex), Jordon Long, Ashtyn Carr, Alex Beaird (Lindsay), Justin Beaird (Emily), Alexia Cross, and Zachary Parrish.
He is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Ethan Baxter, Tatum Baxter, Jameson Beaird, McKenzie Beaird, Mason Beaird, Maddox Beaird, and Brenson Rowlan.
Mr. Grimes is also survived by one sister, Catherine Timms of Porter, Texas and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by one brother Bill Grimes, one sister, Mary McLeskey and one son Johnny M. Grimes.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Stan Dauck officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 12:00 p.m. with full military honors.
