2020 Jackson Cross Country Invitational Results for Stoddard County Athletes

Jackson, MO - On Saturday, August 29, 2020 Stoddard County High Schools competed in the Jackson Cross Country Invitational.  In all there were 28 high schools at Jackson City Park on Saturday.

There were two runners in Stoddard County who placed in the top ten.  Senior Carter Dorton and freshman Abbie Lloyd from Dexter placed 10th and 3rd respectively.

Races were divided into eight divisions: senior boys, senior girls, junior boys, junior girls, sophomore boys, sophomore girls, freshman boys and freshman girls.

The reshman races were 1.95 miles long while the other athletes ran 2.35 miles.  The usual course length in cross country is 3.1 miles.

"I was very pleased with our overall performance at the Jackson Invitational on Saturday," commented Dexter H.S. cross country coach Leonard Morse.  "We were able to bring home seven medals out of our eighteen runners who participated.  The highlight of the day was Abbie Lloyd finishing third in the freshmen girls race.  Also, our top five boys (seniors Carter Dorton, Gavin Cartwright, Andrew Ellinghouse, and sophomores Chris Stone and Clayton Bell) placed in their respective races.  Junior Sophia Chasteen also placed."

"The Jackson race is run by grade level as opposed to varsity/JV divisions as most races," continued Morse.  "Freshmen run 1.95 miles and the other grades run 2.35 miles.  It is a great way to start the season."

"I am grateful to Jackson High School for hosting the meet," stated Morse. "It was great to be a part of the competition and to see teams that we will compete against throughout the rest of the season."
