Homer Lee Kent, son of the late William Henry Kent and Annie Mae Skaggs departed this world into his heavenly home on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 at the age of 90, surrounded by those he loved most.
Homer was born February 10, 1930 in Peach Orchard, Arkansas. On July 12, 1947, Homer married his school sweetheart, Mary Evelyn Holmes. They resided in Peach Orchard, Missouri until 1950 when they moved to Logansport, Indiana. In 1962, life brought them to Malden, Missouri where they resided until moving to their home in Dexter, Missouri in 1994.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Mary Kent. He is also survived by one son, Lee Kent of Dexter; one daughter, Patricia Rodgers (& late husband Thomas) of Dexter; three granddaughters, Heather Tidwell and spouse Logan Hairston of Dexter, Candice Rodgers of Ludowici, Georgia and Kristina Stone of Sikeston, Mo; two grandsons, Jack Schmerber of Dexter and David Jones of Bertrand, Mo; eight great grandchildren, Prestyn, Kaylar, and Jayce Tidwell and Deklyn Hairston, Sierra Green husband Devon, Hallie Skelton all residing in Dexter, and Bentley Stayton & Christian Arment of Ludowici, Georgia; and two great great grandchildren, Maleigha and Kamber Green of Dexter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and lots of friends who loved him greatly. Homer was proceeded in death by his parents and three half brothers; Norman Kent, Lee Kent, & Everett Robinson.
Homer was a Godly man who valued the power of prayer. He loved his wife and family more than words could describe. He always spoiled his grandchildren with lots of love. Homer was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Dexter. In his younger years, Homer worked at Federal Mogul in Malden, Missouri as a Foundry Worker making car pistons before retiring after twenty-nine hard years of work. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and being able to worship God in church throughout his life.
Family and friends may call at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Missouri on Wednesday, July 8th.
Visitation will be for close family from 10:00am-10:30am, then with friends from 10:30am-1:00pm.
Funeral with Reverends Jeff Wells and Maxwell Lewis officiating will follow at 1:30pm.
Internment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery.
