In Memory of Verla Jean White

Verla Jean White, daughter of the late Oliver White and Mary Edith Garner White, was born on October 12, 1936 in Sugar Tree, Missouri and departed this life on April 10, 2020 at Dexter Living Center in Dexter Missouri at the age of 83 years.

Ms. White attended the Church of Christ in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Sam Sturgess of Dexter; by her nephew, Doug Sturgess and wife Kathy of Sikeston; by three nieces, Deborah Sturgess of Dexter, Dana Frazier and husband Mark of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, and Dr. Susan Lucktong and husband Dr. Ek Lucktong of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Sturgess.      

A private, family only, graveside service will be conducted at Old Bethel Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, 2020.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Homes, Inc., 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.

In Memory of Mark Edward Jackson

Mark Edward Jackson, son of the late Gerald Jackson and Wanda Woolard Jackson, was born on November 10, 1960 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on April 9, 2020 at Southeast Health of Stoddard County at the age of 59 years.

Mr. Jackson worked at Auto Tire and Parts and was a former service manager.  He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield and a resident of Bloomfield.  His nickname was “Hootie” and he had a great sense of humor.  He loved cars, making mini bikes and spending time with his grandkids.

On January 30, 1981, in Aid, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Kim Henderson.  Mrs. Jackson survives of their home in Bloomfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jacob Jackson and wife Miranda of Bloomfield; by two daughters, Casey Smith and husband Jason of Bloomfield and Allison Clark and husband Brandon of Puxico; by his brother, Ken Jackson and wife Jamie of Dexter; by his sister, Barbara Duckworth and husband Clinton of Dexter; and by seven grandchildren, Keller Smith, Gunner Bridges, Cannon Hood, Andrea Clark, Audrie Clark, Carsan Phillips, and Colten Jackson.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Jackson.

In Memory of Caryl Deane Clippard

Caryl Deane Clippard, daughter of the late Ray and Anza (Ann) Henderson joined her heavenly father on Thursday, April 9, 2020.  Caryl was born on December 5, 1932 in Parma, Missouri.

Caryl’s family moved to their family farm in Dexter during her early childhood.  After graduating from Dexter Senior High School in 1950, she attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri.  In 1952, Caryl and John F. Ulen Jr. were united in marriage.  While serving active duty in 1954 with the USNR, Ensign Ulen was diagnosed with Leukemia and subsequently passed away in October 1954.  To this union a son, John F. Ulen III was born in November 1954.  While working as an assistant to Superintendent of Dexter Schools, T.S. Hill (1955-56), Caryl met the Dexter High School Basketball Coach, Percy Clippard.  The wed in August of 1956 and were fortunate to spend the next 59 years and 10 months together before Percy passed away on June 10, 2016.

Caryl and Percy enjoyed traveling the country and were fortunate to visit many countries overseas together with their friends and family.  Caryl was a devoted wife and mother, and spent her time as a homemaker, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and PEO in Dexter.  She loved playing bridge, gardening, reading, traveling, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.

Caryl was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Clippard and her first husband, John F. Ullen Jr.; her parents, Ray and Ann Henderson; a brother, Terry Henderson; and her beloved sister Joy Kilmer-McQuary.  She is survived by her three children, John F. Ullen III of Dexter, Mark Clippard and his wife Beth of Springfield, Missouri, and Sandra Stone of Dexter.  She was blessed to have nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A private, family only, graveside service will be conducted at Dexter Cemetery on Monday, April 13, 2020.  Memorials in her honor can be made to:  The Nova Center of the Ozarks, 1340 E Woodhurst Drive, Springfield, Missouri 65804 and Camp Barnabas, 2060 E Sunshine, Springfield, Missouri 65804, both of these organizations are dedicated to providing services for people with special needs.

In Memory of Rhonda Jean McCoy

Rhonda Jean McCoy, daughter of the late Sam True and Onia Faye Smith True, was born on November 6, 1966 in Lewisville, Arkansas and departed this life on April 7, 2020 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 53 years.

Mrs. McCoy was a waitress and attended the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.

On June 2, 2004, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Matt McCoy.  Mr. McCoy survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, LaTisha Arnold and husband Britt of Bernie; by her step-son, Zach McCoy and fiancé Alyssa Phillips of Park Hills; by her step-daughter, Ciara Tucker and husband Mike of Dexter; by two sisters, Debbie Ferguson of Bernie and Kim Walker of Poplar Bluff; and by six grandchildren, Taven Owens, Braxton Arnold, Dyson Arnold, Kannon Arnold, Skylon Arnold, and Kaden Norman.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie Miranda, in infancy.

 A private, family only, funeral service will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 10, 2020.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Randall Keith Coleman

Randall Keith Coleman, son of Dorothy McCormick Coleman and the late Alfred Coleman, was born on November 29, 1962 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on April 6, 2020 at Southeast Health of Cape Girardeau at the age of 57 years.

Mr. Coleman was a line operator for Faurecia in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On October 28, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was first united in marriage to Lisa Ann Parks.  Mrs. Coleman preceded him in death on December 21, 2005.  On November 20, 2017, in Bloomfield, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Vanita Snider.

He is survived by his wife, Vanita Coleman of Dexter, by his mother, Dorothy Coleman of Dexter; by his son Gage Coleman of Dexter; by his daughter Katie Coleman of Dexter; by his step-son, Robbie Davis of Jackson, by his step-daughter, Devonne Davis of O’Fallon; by his brother, J. W. Coleman of Dexter; by two sisters, Connie Smith of Dexter and Janet Conner of Dexter.

A private, family only, funeral service will be conducted at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 10, 2020.  Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
