Small Business Saturday is November 24, 2018! Shop Local!
Back in 2010 small businesses were really hurting do to our economy. American Express launched Small Business Saturday to help local businesses prosper!
"In an effort to support local shops that make our communities strong, American Express launches Small Business Saturday® on the Saturday after Thanksgiving — to encourage people to Shop Small and bring more holiday shopping to small businesses."
In 2011, the Senate unanimously passes a resolution in support of the day. By 2012, officials in all 50 states participate. It even gets a shoutout from the President of the United States.
In 2017, an estimated 108 million consumers reported shopping or dining at local independently-owned businesses on Small Business Saturday — generating roughly $12 billion in reported spend.
As shopping small catches on in communities everywhere, Small Business Saturday goes from a cause to a day of community celebration with 90% of consumers being surveyed said Small Business Saturday has had a positive impact on their community.
So Shop Local, Shop Small Business Saturday!
Dexter, Missouri - The Keller Public Library will have their annual book sale on Saturday, November 17, 2018 between 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Everyone loves books! They also make great Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.
Bernie, Missouri - The annual Bernie Community Hayride will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
Meet at the Bernie City park at 2:30 p.m.
Hayride will leave by 3 p.m.
Goodie bags and hotdogs will be served after the hayride!
Love small town gatherings! Come out and enjoy the beautiful weather!
Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie Chamber of Commerce Halloween Trunk or Treat and Costume Parade is still scheduled for Wednesday, October 31st in downtown Bernie; however if it is raining the event will be rescheduled for Thursday, November 1st.
They will announce on their Facebook page for updates.
The parade time has been changed from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all Trunk or Treat vehicles need to be parked by 5:55 p.m.
All children wanting to participate will meet at the corner of Crumb St. and Drake St. prior to 6 p.m. Parents are welcome to walk with their children. NO bikes or skateboards etc. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. with the Bernie High School Band leading the way.
Immediately following the costume parade there will be a free costume contest in the parking lot next to Celia's.

Dexter, Missouri - the Historic Downtown Dexter Association (HDDA) will host a Tree Lighting event on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the Dexter Welcome Center located at 10 W. South Main St.
Music will be provided by The Show Stoppers of Southeast Missouri.
Hot Chocolate and cookies provided by Bank of Advance.
The tree was donated by Dexter Wal-Mart and the lights by First Midwest Bank.
Come out for this even and if you do please bring a canned good item and place in the Blessing Box next to the Welcome Center!
