In Memory of Edward Horton

Charles Edward Horton, son of the late Harlan “Rock” Horton and Nina Quinn Horton was born on March 16, 1940 in Essex, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2018 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 78 years.
Mr. Horton was a former Collector for Richland Township, former owner of Essex Service Station and former custodian for Richland Public Schools. He was a resident of Essex, Missouri.
On November 7, 1960 he was united in marriage to Betty Sanders in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Horton preceded him in death on May 30, 2014.
Survivors include: one son, Allan Horton (Tracy) of Dexter, Mo; by one daughter, Vickie Goodman (Bill) of Essex, Mo; by one sister, Joyce Williams of Houston, Tx; by four grandchildren, Brad Goodman (Jeralyn), Derrick Goodman (Laci Cowart), Brandon Horton (Haley) and Blake Horton; by five great-grandchildren, Allison Goodman, Brooklyn Goodman, Cooper Goodman, Will Goodman and Spencer Goodman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lynn Horton.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Malloy officiating.
Interment will follow at the Essex Cemetery.

In Memory of Eula Mae Carson

Eula Mae Carson, daughter of the late James Hatchel and Dora Elizabeth Cox Hatchel, was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on September 15, 1920, and departed this life at her residence in Bernie, Missouri on April 16, 2018 at the age of 97.
Mrs. Carson was a caretaker, a homemaker, had worked at Nursing Homes, and of course had picked her share of cotton. She was of Baptist Faith and a resident of Bernie.
She was united in marriage to George Richard on April 6,1937. He preceded his wife in death on April 26, 1946. She was united in marriage to Layton Vaughn Carson in Piggott, Arkansas on April 24, 1948. Mr. Carson preceded his wife in death on September 28, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Carson of Malden, Missouri and Ronnie Carson of Bernie, Missouri; by five daughters, Shirley Alvis of Bernie, Missouri, Jeanett Schmeig of Granite City, Illinois, Nora Fuemmeler of Rushville, Missouri, Brenda Owens of Marshall, Missouri and Pam Gandt of Brownwood, Missouri; by one brother, Frank D. Hatchel of Bloomfield, Missouri; by three sisters, Emogene Hodge of Davison, Michigan, Violetta Minton of Dexter, Missouri and Joyce Blaylock of Essex, Missouri; by Twenty Seven Grandchildren, Fifty Nine Great-Grandchildren and Thirty Two Great-Great-Grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husbands, by Five Sons, Doyle Richard, Chester Richard, Glendale Richard, Darrel Carson and Roger Carson; by Four Brothers, Terry Hatchel, Perry Hatchel, “Bud” Eugene Hatchel and Lewis Hatchel; by four sisters, Dorothy Richards, Velta Lacy, Geraldine Hatchel and Mable Hudgens.
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in BERNIE, Missouri on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Saturday morning, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jarod Hancock & Rev. Diana Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Rural Dexter, Missouri.

In Memory of Bonnie Lou Furlong

Bonnie Lou Furlong, 84 of Malden, was born on June 15, 1934 in Malden, Missouri to the late Claude Taylor and Ica Thrasher Taylor. She departed this life on Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Dexter, Missouri.
Bonnie was a graduate of Malden High School and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a Bachelor of Science in Education having taught elementary school for over 38 years. She was a member of the Sunnyvale General Baptist Church in Malden, where she was actively involved with children and youth. Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles Furlong on January 30, 1954 in Malden. Charles survives of the home.
Her other survivors include:
Daughter: Teresa Rush & husband, Doug of Cypress, Texas.
Son: John Furlong of St. Louis, Missouri.
Family loved one: Gregory Rieger of St. Louis, Missouri.
Grandchildren: Douglas Rush & wife, Jessica and Sarah Hostetler & husband, Ryan .
3 Great-grandchildren: Malachi Hostetler, Elisha Hostetler and Katherine Rush.
Sister: JoAnn Brown of Malden.
Brother: Bob Wayne Taylor of Bernie.
She was preceded in death by her parents & 2 brothers: W. C. (Dub) Taylor and Harold C. (Hank) Taylor.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 12-2 P.M. at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M with Reverend James Hamlett officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden, Missouri.
Landess Funeral Home of Malden in charge of the arrangements.

In Memory of Angela Barnes

Angela Barnes, 49, of Malden, Missouri, was born on April 20, 1968 in Winter Haven, Florida to the late James Tessner & Lorraine Brown Tessner. She passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Southeast Hospital, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Angela D. Barnes was the manager of the Swindles Convenience Store in Malden. She was united in marriage to Donnie Barnes on June 11, 1994 in Clarkton. He survives of the home.
Her other survivors include: Daughter: Kelsi Barnes of Malden. Sister: Sharon Brown & husband, Mike of Dexter. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev.. Dale Rickman will officiate. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
