Bloomfield, Missouri - The Portageville Bulldogs came in as the #7 seed and fell in double overtime to the #10 seeded Bloomfield Wildcats in the first upset of the 2017 Bloomfield Christmas Tournament on Tuesday, December 26th.
The Bloomfield Wildcats scored 13 points in the second overtime period of Game #7 to defeat the Portageville Bulldogs by a score of 63 - 51. (The last few minutes of the game plus both double overtime periods can be seen on the ShowMe Times Facebook page).
The Bulldogs led at the end of the first quarter 13 - 11. Bloomfield took the lead near the end of the second period going into the locker room at the half with a score of 25-24.
Portageville held Bloomfield to just six points in the third period, but the Wildcats struggled back well and tied it up 48-48 for their first overtime. Each team scored only two points causing yet another overtime period of 4 minutes.
It was all Wildcat basketball in double overtime. They outscored Portageville 13 - 5 for the victory.
Peyton Bell earned a game-high 20 points for Bloomfield on five buckets and was 7/12 at the charity stripe. He also had one 3-pointer.
Dalton Phillips tallied 19 points on 4 buckets, 2 treys and 5 from the free throw.
Travis McCollough finished with 15 points. He also had one 3-pointer.
Portageville's Ian Torrey recorded a team-high 19 points. DAniel Carter finished with 11 points.
