In Memory of Don Ables

Don Wesley Ables, son of the late Cline Ables and Nota Dover Ables was born on September 19, 1944 in Sikeston, Missouri and departed this life on September 24, 2017 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 73.
Mr. Ables was a Veteran of the United States Army, former employee with News America Marketing and Sales, and member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter. For 19 years he also helped and organized American Legion Boys State.
On December 19, 1980, he was united in marriage to Kay McPheeters in Jackson, Missouri. Mrs. Ables survives of the home in Dexter, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; by two sons, Wes Ables and wife Colleen of Nashville, Tennessee and Vance Woodham and wife Laura of Fenton, Missouri; by one daughter, Melissa Ables Jacob and husband Dave of Shelton, Connecticut; by three sisters, Marilyn Boyce and husband Bill of Sikeston, Missouri, Jo Cavanaugh of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Gretta Walton of East Jordan, Michigan; by three brother-in-law’s, Joe Mosley and wife Ann of Malden, Missouri, Steve Mcpheeters, wife Patti of Sikeston, Missouri and Bill Boyce and wife Marilyn of Sikeston, Missouri; by six grandchildren, Dan Woodham, Blake Woodham, Drew Woodham, Nate Jacob, Katie Jacob of Shelton, CT, Amanda Jacob Erickson and husband Ryan of Kingston Springs, TN; by many nieces and nephews and by one special nephew, Charlie Boyce, also by Bill Anderson and family.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12:00 until 2:30 P.M. Wednesday September 27, 2017.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. in the Committal Shelter at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.
