In Memory of Audrey Marcella Pulling
Audrey Marcella Pulling of Parma, daughter of the late Otto and Edna Ruth Zile Coffey, was born near Essex on July 11, 1921, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on September 14, 2017, at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

Audrey had lived in Essex until 1959 when she moved to Parma. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma where she had taught Training Union, was Sunday School Director for several years, the Adult Director for many years and a member of the W.M.U at the church. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and was a elementary school teacher for 39 years, teaching in Stoddard County and New Madrid County. She was a member of the Parma Civic Club for Women, M.S.T.A. and N.R.T.A.

On August 7, 1943, she was married to Ivan L. Pulling in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2016.

Surviving are one son & wife, Stanley & Tonja Pulling of Mountain View, Missouri; one granddaughter & husband, Kristy & Adam Howell of Bernie, Missouri; one great grandson, Christopher Sutton of Bernie, Missouri; one brother, Lewis "Bud" Coffey of Dexter; and three sisters, Martha Tucker of Grayridge, Opal Short of Neelyville and Jean Isbell of Dexter. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Curt Coffey and two sisters, Loretta Mouser and Geneva Coffey and her husband Ivan L. Pulling.

Friends may call on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Parma, Missouri with Rev. E. D. Doss of Martin, Tennessee officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO  Box 188, Parma, MO  63870.

In Memory of Bertha Sue Smith
Bertha Sue Smith was born on October 14, 1956 in Monahans, Texas. She departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 60 years 11 months and 4 days.
 
Bertha was a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Carl Smith in Waverly, Tennessee in 1986. He survives of the home in Malden.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Landess Funeral Home chapel in Malden from 1-2 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Mr. James Powell officiating.

Interment will be in the Rosewood First Addition Cemetery in Malden.

In Memory of Brenda Rolwing
Brenda Rolwing, daughter of the late Richard Caldwell and Dorothy Rowe Caldwell was born on November 5, 1949 at Frisco, Missouri and departed this life in the Saint Francis Medical Center on September 16, 2017 at the age 67 years.

Mrs. Rolwing was a former secretary at Saint Henry’s Church and School, a former clerk at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. a former Librarian at the Sikeston Public Library.  She was raised in the Pyletown Community and was a 1967 graduate of Dexter Senior High School. 

She was united in marriage to Donald Rolwing on July 3, 1993 at Sikeston. Mr. Rolwing survives of the home in Sikeston. 

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Jason Pounds (Andrea Burnett) of Sikeston: by one daughter, Laura LaPorte of Southaven, Mississippi: by one step-son, Codi Rolwing of Matthews: by one brother, Michael Caldwell of Sikeston: by six grandchildren, Kendall Pounds, Logan LaPorte, Kennedy LaPorte, Gage Rolwing, Banks Rolwing and Bennett Rolwing. 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 8:00 P. M., Monday, September 18, 2017.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.  

Interment will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston.

In Memory of Art Cole
Arthur W. (Art) Cole, 76, died Thursday, September 14, 2017 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at Saint Andrew Lutheran church. He was born June 7, 1941 in Tallapoosa, Missouri to James and Ermer Cole. They proceeded ham in death along with three brothers, John Cole, Edgar Cole and Purvus Cole and one sister Selma Shaw. 

Art was married to Dora Opalewski on December 27, 1969. To this union was born one daughter Annie Cole; One grandson Joseph (Joey) Mullins of Republic, Missouri.

Art graduated in 1959 from Gideon high school, Southeast Missouri State University in 1962, University of Missouri in 1965 and received a Ford foundation grant to attend graduate school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1968.

Art voluntarily served in the Vietnam conflict and joined the Missouri National Guard upon return. He was deployed to Desert Storm in 1991 and retired in 2001 

He was a high school teacher and subsequently moved to the Poplar Bluff regional center and retired from the Department of mental health in 2003.

Art was a dedicated worker for the Democratic Party. He served as chair of the congressional district and the 153rd Senate District as well as the committeeman for the fourth Ward in Poplar Bluff. He worked tirelessly to try to make life better for every person in the state. His favorite was mentoring young people to reach their dreams. Many times he passed up the spot light to shine the light on someone else or to push them closer to their dream. He was loved and respected my family and friends. 

Also surviving are three nieces; Ava King of St. Louis, Eleanor Metcalf of Pontiac, Michigan, and Julie Gordon of Troy, Michigan; one nephew David Cole of Ault, Colorado; two grand-nephews John Devault of St. Louis and Byran Metcalf of Pontiac Michigan.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9 o'clock Monday September 18th, 2017 at the Saint Andrew Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, September 19, 2017 starting at 10:00 AM also at Saint Andrews Lutheran Church.

Interment will follow in the veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Morgan Sifford funeral home of Puxico, Missouri has been entrusted with the arrangements.

In Memory of Vadola Martin
Vadola Martin, daughter of the late Richard Overton and Lula Jackson Overton Hodge, was born in McGee on January 30, 1922, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on September 15, 2017, at the age of 95 years, 7 months and 16 days.

She had lived in the Puxico area all of her life. She was a member of the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico and was active in the WM's at the church. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed making chicken and dumplings for the church and cooking corndogs & goat meat for the Goat Shack at the Puxico Homecoming.

On January 20, 1942, she was married to Elmer Martin in  Bollinger County. He preceded her in death August 7, 1984. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a loving step-father, Washington Hodge, one daughter, Barbara White, two grandsons Corey & Eric Martin, one great grandson Tyler Doublin; her brothers, Benton, Basil, Bazzlel, Buford, Richard; three sisters, Vernola Overton, Velvadean Hendrix and Ruth George; a step-sister, Lula Potter.

Surviving are seven sons & wives, Ron & Elvena Martin of Dexter, Duane Martin of St. Roberts, Missouri, Gary & Lois Martin of Millersvile, Missouri, Tony & Leslie Martin of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Roger & Robin Martin; &  Randy & Cindy Martin all of Puxico, Missouri; Gordon & Carolyn Martin of Wentzville, Missouri; three daughters & husbands, Gloria & Lonnie Massey of Sedgewickville, Missouri; Priscilla & Larry Hull of Old Appleton; Missouri, Lynetta & Mike Baldwin of St Peters, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be Sunday September 17, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Services will be held Monday, September 18, 2017, at 11:00  a.m. at the Life Chapel Assembly of God Church In Puxico with the Rev. Glenn Epps of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be in the Rock Point Cemetery near Swinton with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of all the arrangements.
