Bloomfield, Missouri - Bloomfield High School held their annual Athletic Honors Ceremony on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Bloomfield High School gym along with the middle school athletes.
Coaches for the girls basketball team is Louis Bell.
Awards presented were Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year and the Wildcat Award.
"First game of the season and we score off of the tip - Jenna Yates," commented head coach Louis Bell. "then Kaylee Roper hits a 3-pointer and the crowd went wild!"
"Well the rest of the game did not go quite so well against South Pemiscot, but we faced them again in the District Tournament. I could not believe how much these girls improved over the course of their first season," continued Bell.
"I can't express enough of how proud of these girls I am. To be as successful as they are in all aspects of their lives and to have the courage they had to compete against other girls who have been playing basketball for many years on top of doing that in front of everyone who came out to the games. Believe me it took a lot of courage!"
Most Valuable Player goes to Tyrah Hartle.
Defensive Player of the Year goes to Kaylee Roper.
Offensive Player of the Year goes to Michaela Tidwell.
Most Improved Player of the Year goes to Nicole Roper.
Wildcat Award goes to Lily Warrick.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School baseball team celebrated Senior Night on Monday, May 8, 2017. As a bonus the Bearcats easily defeated the Portageville Bulldogs 9 - 4.
Riley Mason is the son of Tim and Donna Mason.
He has played baseball all four years of high school.
Riley was also a member of Future Farmers of America his freshman and sophomore years at Dexter High School.
His future plans after graduation are undecided at this time.

Hunter Parrott is the son of Clark and Michele Parrott.
He has participated on the Dexter High School baseball team all four years from freshman - senior year.
He is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Ethan Martinez is the grandson of Jeanette Layton.
He played football his senior year, baseball his freshman and senior years, and wrestling his freshman year.
He is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, and Sr. Beta Club.
His future plans after graduation are to attend Missouri State University; however he is undecided on a major.

Jason Jarrell is the son of Denny and Paula Jarrell.
He has played baseball, basketball and football all four years of high school at Dexter.
He is also a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America and Sr. Beta Club.
He was All-Conference and All-District for baseball for the 2016 season.
His future plans are to attend Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri on a baseball scholarship and is on tract for a pre-physical therapy degree.
