Bloomfield, Missouri - During the Bloomfield Middle School and High School Awards Ceremony Nicole Roper received a special volleyball for her 1,000th assist during the 2016 - 2017 volleyball season.
On September 22, 2016 at the Bloomfield vs Woodland home game, Nicole Roper became a part of the 1,000 point club!
"Since her freshman year, this girl has put in countless hours of practice working on one thing," commented Sherilyn Johnson, Bloomfield head volleyball coach. "Most of the girls get a break and opportunity to work on different skills, but when you are the setter you must tirelessly work on one skill. Whether it is chasing down crazy passes or setting 75 more balls so the hitters can get "just one more", being the only setter is hard work."
"It was truly a pleasure tossing each and every ball to this girl for the last three years because while doing that my constructive criticism has all paid off."
Congratulations Nicole!

"She is a girl who a lot of time shad to push herself in practice and did a great job of it," commented Johnson. "She did a great job of it. She stands out in every defensive drill we do and is extremely fun to watch. When I asked the girls who worked the hardest in practice this year, she was the answer."
The Wildcat Award goes to Lilly Warrick.
"I feel Lilly is a wildcat through and through," stated Jonson. "She was the one who was the most comfortable screaming and getting the girls excited during practice and games. She likes to have a little fun and does a good job balancing silly and serious."
Serving Award of the Year goes to Nicole Roper.
"I was really hard on the girls when it came to serving this year," continued Johnson. "I felt like we needed to strengthen that part of our game and have the ability to put pressure on the other team's serve receive line."
Next was the Offensive Player of the Year Award. it goes to Bailey Below.
"This girl surprises me every singe year on how much she improves," commented Johnson. "This year she improved in her volleyball skills as well as her attitude and leadership on the court. She can hold her own all the way around the court, but definitely stands out on the front row!"
The Most Valuable Player Award goes to a girl who tallied 235 kills, 232 digs and 53 aces.
"There are so many great things I could say about this girl, but if I could choose one word to describe her it would be CLUTCH," state Johnson. "In the game against Advance this year we were in a rut, I found a hole and called a timeout. I asked her to hit a very small spot ont eh court that was a sharp angle from a position that she doesn't even play, just thinking she would get it in the vicinity and we could manage from there. This girl went out there and hit it dead on for a kill."
The MVP goes to Jewel Chism.
