Bloomfield, Missouri - Bloomfield Middle School held their annual Athletic Honors Ceremony on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Bloomfield High School gym along with the high school athletes.
Sherilyn Johnson and Che Jones are the middle school volleyball coaches. Students managers are Cheyanne Joiner and Makayla Blevins.
Playing for the Bloomfield 7th grade girls volleyball team are Isabelle Tippen, Abigail Venable, Ansley Huffman, Alaina Dockins, Mattie Pennington, Molly Below, Karsynn Phillips, Abigail Conner, Shilynn Bader, Ashlynn Sills, Rosa Hester, Sevanna Metcalf, Alyssa Jarrell, Emily Hancock, and Kylie Wheelis.
"The 7th grade group is by far the largest group that I h ave coached," commented Johnson. "I really hope that they all continue to play throughout high school because there is a lot of talent on the team."
Four awards were presented: Wildcat Award, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Year Award.
The Wildcat Award went to Mattie Pennington. "She never got down on herself and played whatever role the team needed her to play with a positive attitude."
The Offensive Player of the Year Award went to Shilynn Bader. "She is a young lady who will do great hings for Bloomfield on the front row. She has the height and the commitment."
The Defensive Player of the Year Award went to Karsynn Phillips. "She is a girl we could always count on to get us out of serve receive. She is an all around great player, but her ability to read and react to the ball is exceptional for a seventh grader."
The Most Valuable Player Award went to Molly Below. "She is reliable all the way around the court. She can pass, set, hit, and now even jump serve."
