Rev. Willis H. Worth, son of the late Valle Worth and Julie Rettig Worth, was born on May 25, 1928 at Portageville and departed this life in the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center at Dexter on June 16, 2016 at the age of 88.
Rev. Worth was a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church near Essex, a retired General Baptist minister having served local churches for 55 years. He was the former District Manager for the National Motor Club, a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and Prison Ministry Team, a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #153, and a 32nd Degree Mason. Rev. Worth never met a stranger, he was crazy over his grandchildren, loved riding motorcycles and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was united in marriage to Ilene Smith on October 17, 1948 at Bloomfield. Mrs. Worth survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, Pamela Dowdy and Teresa Worth both of Dexter, Sandra Nicole Worth of Sikeston: by one son, Eugene Worth Jr. of Farmington: by two brothers, Richard Worth of vassar, Michigan and Bill Worth of Pinellas Park, Florida: by eight grandchildren, Amy Beth Dowdy, Matthew Dowdy, LaTisha Ferraresi, Heather Annesser, Shawn Goodman, Jessie Sanders, Lee Bloomfield III and Hannah Worth: by nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service held at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday evening. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
