Gerrel J. Giest, daughter of the late Robert McQueary and Hattie Stout McQueary, was born on August 16, 1930 in Chillicothe, Texas and departed this life on March 31, 2016 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 85.
Mrs. Giest had worked as a factory supervisor for Diemakers, Inc. in Monroe City, Missouri and was a resident of Dexter.
On December 25, 1948, she was united in marriage to Alvin Giest, Jr. Mr. Giest preceded her in death on December 20, 2005.
She is survived by one son, Durrell Giest of Springfield, Missouri; by two daughters, Shirley Yoder and husband Raymond of Monroe City, Missouri and Sheila Cunningham and husband Darrell of Dexter, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Aaron Ellsworth and wife Danielle, Summer Kern and husband Brian, Micky Yoder and wife Cathy, Gena Maupin and friend Jerry Sinclair, Ashlie Shipman and husband Sean and Shelly Leonard and husband Chris; and by thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Eugene Giest; by twelve brothers and sisters; and by one nephew, Edward McQueary.
A graveside service will be conducted at Dudley Cemetery on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Kent Miller officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
