Betty F. Guinn, daughter of the late Wilbur Collins and Vivian Crawford Collins, was born on August 30, 1930 in Brinkley, Arkansas and departed this life on March 27, 2016 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 85.
Mrs. Guinn was a resident of Dexter and she and her husband, Starling, were owners of the Dudley Farm Service in Dudley.
On February 7, 1974, she was united in marriage to Starling Guinn in Dexter. Mr. Guinn preceded her in death on January 27, 2015.
Betty was a woman of faith who was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter for over forty years. She enjoyed outings with the Joy Club and activities with her dear friends in the New Beginnings Sunday School class. She and her late husband were especially supportive of Small Wonders Child Development Center at the Church.
Betty and her husband owned a cabin for many years at Lake Wappapello. They enjoyed fishing together and she was often the winner of “friendly” competition as to who could catch the most. They often shared their catch with others at popular fish frys.
Betty was devoted to her family. She was especially proud of her daughters and spoke to them daily. No conversation ever ended without her reminding them that she loved them.
She was a quiet supporter of those in need. She looked for ways to help others and most often preferred her actions to be anonymous. She supported the Stoddard County Children’s Home and the family requests that memorials be
directed there.
Mrs. Guinn is survived by her four daughters, Sherry Paules and husband Jim of Grapevine, Texas, Pam Kingston and husband Ron of Euless, Texas, Sharon Chase of Avon Lake, Ohio and Debbie Kennamer and husband Charles of Avon Lake, Ohio; by three sisters, Billie Holland of Forest City, Arkansas, Ruby Porter of McPherson, Kansas and Patsy Lampkin of Murray, Kentucky; and by three granddaughters, one grandson, four great-grandsons, and one great-great-grandson.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
