Dexter Topples Perryville on Senior Night

Dexter, Missouri - This was one of the most important games of the season played at the Bearcat Event Center for the Lady Cats volleyball team.  They knew they needed to win this one to honor their three seniors, as it was their last game at home during the regular volleyball season.

“Perryville is always a good opponent,” commented head volleyball coach Carmen Morgan.  “They put you through your paces and they dig up everything.  You cannot hit the ball over and stand and think it is down because they will dig it up and put it right back at you.  I love playing them because you have to always be ready and stay on your toes against them.”

In the first set, the Lady Pirates dug deep and forced the Cats to commit 11 unforced errors.  They dropped the first set 25-19 to Perryville, but recovered quickly and dominated the next to sets to secure a win on Senior Night.

The Lady Cats rallied back and easily won the second set 25-10.  The third set went a little closer, but they defeated the Pirates 25-21.

“The first set we didn’t pass well,” stated Morgan.  “We live and die with our pass.  When we pass we can do a lot more offensively.  We made a lot of passing and hitting errors the first set, but we cleaned that up, came back out and played our offensive game.”

Dexter senior Brittany Brown tallied a team-high 21 digs!

“Brittany Brown has been doing a fantastic job for us,” continued Morgan.  “I am really pleased with her efforts.  Not much gets by her!”

Krysten Garrison had 17 kills, three blocks, nine assists, 13 digs and two aces serves.

“Krysten did a really good job,” Morgan said.  “Not only did she hit well, but she got her hands on balls on their hits.  They put the ball in the setter position some and she was able to get the ball up when they did.”

Bailee Williams had a team-high 21 assists and Hannah Thurmon recorded nine kills.

The Lady Cats honored their three seniors Brittany Brown, Kendall Adams, and Julia Hahn before the start of the varsity game on Thursday.

“The seniors came out and played a great game,” Morgan said.  “Julia and Kendall both got some really good hits for us at key moments.  Julia is a secondary setter in the front row and has good hands.  She takes care of that spot and if our setter has to play the first hit we know Julia is right there and is going to take care of that position.”

“Kendall got a really good down-the-line hit and did a good job blocking,” continued Morgan.  “Brittany did a great job digging and passing for us.  Those three have stayed with me from the beginning so I am very partial to them and we will miss them very much.”

Senior Night for Lady Cats Volleyball Team
Dexter, Missouri - It's always a bitter sweet night when seniors play their final regular season game at home and Thursday night will be no different for three senior volleyball Lady Cats.

Kendall Adams, Brittany Brown, and Julia Hahn will take the court for their last game at the Bearcat Event Center on Thursday, October 15th against the Perryville Lady Pirates.

The junior varsity game will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by the varsity.

“It’s a reflective night for the seniors” noted Morgan.  “These girls realize their season is coming to a close.  It’s the last time they will play at home in the Bearcat Event Center.”

“I started with them when they were a freshman,” continued Morgan.  “Out of the whole crew they are the only three still with me as seniors.  I have a soft spot in my heart for those girls.  They stuck it out and are very vital to the team.  They all play a key role for us.”

Congratulations seniors!
