Born September 18, 1961 in Sikeston, Mo. Starla was one of two daughters born to Bobbie Jackson and the late Dolly (Dunning) Jackson.
Mrs. Mairs was a resident of the Bloomfield and Poplar Bluff, Mo. area for the past twenty-three years and previously of Arivaca, Arizona.
Starla loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors; camping, working in her garden, traveling, writing and helping veterans.
She was a homemaker and she also worked as a secretary for the Modern Day Vets for roughly six years. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Sweet Prospect Church of Dexter, Mo.
In addition to her father, Bobbie Jackson; Starla is survived by one son, Derrick Rodgers, of Poplar Bluff; four daughters, Angela Mitchell, of Dexter, Mo., Amantha Dunning, Deana Davis and Natasha Miller, all three of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Monica Thornton, of Gray Ridge, Mo; seven grandchildren, Malachi Rodgers, Olivia Atkinson, Ares Myers, Adyin Mairs, Zoie Davis, Keegin Miller and Addison Miller; as well as many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2015 starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Sweet Prospect in Dexter, Missouri. Rev. Ray Rowland will officiate.
