Donald Ray Stephens

Donald Ray Stephens, son of the late Willie Everett Stephens and Dollie Lucille (Mason) Stephens was born July 5, 1944 in Bernie, Missouri and departed this life on August 19, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO at the age of 71.

Donald and wife, Linda were united in marriage on January 4, 1969 in St. Charles, Illinois.

Mr. Stephens owned and operated Stephens Auto Sales in Bernie. He enjoyed his family and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. He attended Corner Gospel Fellowship in Bernie.

Besides his wife, survivors include 3 sons, Ricky Lynn Stephens, Richard Lee Stephens and wife Susan, Randal Scott Stephens and wife Michelle all of Bernie, Mo; by one daughter Sherri Marie Emery and husband Darrell Emery of Hunter, Missouri; by one brother Gary Stephens of Starke, Florida, by one sister Wanda Smith of Bernie, MO; by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; also many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Stephens and two sisters, Louise Tucker and Lucille Collins.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Wells officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Wilma Bernice Hyslop

Wilma Bernice Hyslop, daughter of the late Walter Alexander Summers and Allie Belle Davenport Summers, was born on February 14, 1933 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on August 18, 2015 at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 82.

On November 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Hyslop in Dexter.  He preceded her in death on November 27, 1993.

Mrs. Hyslop was a member of the Risen Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Roger L. Hyslop and wife Vicky of Jackson, Missouri and Kevin E. Hyslop and wife Rosemary of Houston, Texas ; by five grandchildren, Caitlin (Adam) Dillingham, Alyssa (Brandon) Lohmeier, Sean Hyslop, Brandon (Molly) Hyslop and Michael Vasquez; by two great-grandchildren, Corbin Dillingham and Harper Dillingham; and by many relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Ferrell Summers and Albert Carman Summers; and by five sisters, Jewell Lee Summers, Lottie Fern Johnson, Bessie Naomi Dudek and Dorothy Mae Sneed.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. 

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Central Gardens Residential Care Center (Dexter, Missouri), Ratliff Care Center (Cape Girardeau, Missouri) and Southeast Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.

Glendle L. Elsworth

Glendle L. Elsworth, son of the late Homer Elsworth and Madge Bell Partin Elsworth was born in Bernie, Missouri on May 21, 1933 and departed this life at his residence in Malden, Missouri on August 17, 2015 at the age of 82.

Mr. Elsworth had worked for Cotton Hill Township, he drove a Roadgrader.  He was a member of Bernie General Baptist Church.

He was united in marriage to Ellen Faye Talley in Corning, Arkansas on April 2, 2004.  She remains in their home in Malden. 

Other survivors include three sons, Wendle Elsworth, Laroy Elsworth and Dean Elsworth & wife Teresa, all of Bernie, Missouri; by one step-son, Michael Leasure & wife Peggy of Malden, Missouri; by four daughters, Carolyn Stroup & husband Danny, of Malden, Missouri, Melba Johnson & husband Guy, of Bullshoals, Arkansas, Debbie Williams & husband Les, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Donna Ormsby of Bernie, Missouri; by two sisters, Laurissa Brandon and Brenda Brown & husband Dick, all of Dexter, Missouri; by 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death other than by his parents, by three brothers, Chalmer Elsworth, Hershel Elsworth and Leon Elsworth; by three sisters, Linda Elsworth, Mary Louise Hobgood and Donis Elsworth. 

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 11:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie starting at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick and Rev. Marlin Durham officiating. 

Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery.

Diana Gail Elsworth
Diana Gail Elsworth, daughter of Helen Bernice Crest Noland Payton of Dexter and the late Carrol David Noland, was born on June 29, 1958 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on August 17, 2015 at her residence in Dexter at the age of 57.

Mrs. Elsworth was of the Baptist faith. She was a former machine operator for Facet Filter. She formerly worked as a supervisor at the Boucher Street ARC Group Home. She had formerly worked on the family farm. She was a member of the Prayer Warriors.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Jarred Elsworth and his wife Heather of Qulin, Missouri; by one daughter, Amanda (“Lil’ Rose Bud”) Woodall and her husband Billy Woodall, Jr. of Wardell, Missouri; by her stepfather, Bobby Payton of Dexter; by one sister, Debra Smith of Dexter; by six grandchildren, Briana Elsworth, Cameron Elsworth, Taylor Elsworth, Ethan Elsworth, Samantha Woodall and Chris Woodall; by five great-grandchildren; by two nieces, Kristin Jackson and Angie Hartline; by one nephew, Kylie Smith; and by honorary sisters, Ruby McCord and Patty Mordis.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 P.M.

Interment will follow in the Harper Cemetery in Aid, Missouri.

Syble Jean Curd Moore
Syble Jean Curd Moore, daughter of the late Roy Elvis and Columia Ann Patrick Curd, was born in Puxico, Missouri on April 27, 1941, and passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on August 15, 2015, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 18 days.

She had lived in the Puxico and Advance areas all her life. She attended of the Assembly of God Church. She was a home maker, loved to fish, read, and loved her grandchildren.

In 1978, she was married to James Moore in Puxico, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Surviving are one son, James Moore of Advance; four daughters, Penny Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Judy Moore, Lynda Kennedy, and Lisa Moore, all of Advance, Missouri;  thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with Rev. Gavin Page and Rev. Nathan Riney officiating.

Interment with be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
