Sue Sturgess

Sue Sturgess

Sue Sturgess, daughter of the late Oliver White and Mary Edith Garner White was born on November 19, 1938 at Pyletown and departed this life in the SoutheastHealth of Cape Girardeau, Missouri on April 23, 2015 at the age of 76 years.

Mrs. Sturgess was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. In her early years, she worked at Elder Manufacturing in Dexter, had worked as an Independent Sales Consultant and was a local business owner.

She was united in marriage to Sammy L. Sturgess on October 11, 1957 at Dexter.  Mr. Sturgess survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Kathy Sturgess of Sikeston; by three daughters, Deborah Sturgess of Dexter, Dana Sturgess Frazier and husband Mark of Stuarts Draft, Virginia and Dr. Susan Sturgess Lucktong and husband Dr. Ek Lucktong  of Mooresville, North Carolina; by one sister, Verla Jean White of Dexter; six grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Frazier, Sammy and Savannah Lucktong, Jennifer and Michael Scism; also by one great-grandson Connor Scism.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Keith Sturgess.

Visitation will be held at the Dexter Church of Christ on Sunday April 26, 2015 from  1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted at 3:00 P.M. in the Dexter Church of Christ.  Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery.

Debra Blunt

Debra Blunt, daughter of Dortha Blunt of Dexter, Missouri and the late Martin Blunt, was born on June 4, 1957 in Dexter and passed away on April 22, 2015 at her residence in Sikeston at the age of 57.

She was a member of the Cape First Church of Sikeston, had worked in claims for the Dewitt Company in Sikeston and was a member of the Dexter Senior High Class of 1975.

Besides her mother she is survived by two sons, Shane Blunt and Shawn Blunt both of Sikeston; by one daughter, Ciara Blunt of Sikeston; by one brother, Ronny Blunt of Colorado; and by two sisters, Kathy Ivy of Dexter and Sherry Busick of Dexter.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley Blunt and Robert Blunt.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Allen Basham officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery in Dexter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to Southeast Hospice, c/o Southeast Hospice, 10 Doctors Park, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63703.

William Moore

William "Bill" Moore, son of the late James W. Moore and Katie Adell Sprinkle Moore, was born on September 21, 1942 in Dexter and passed away on April 22, 2015 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 72.

Mr. Moore was of the Lutheran faith.  He had worked for Chrysler Corporation in St. Louis as a line worker and also as a truck driver for Safety Klean.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War.

On February 27, 1988, he was united in marriage to Berta A. Enriquez in Ore City, Texas.  Mrs. Moore survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Christopher Moore; by three daughters, Karina, Victoria and Cindy; by two brothers, Jimmie Dale Moore and his wife Betty of Dexter and Johnny Ray Moore and his wife Carol of Cabot, Arkansas; by one sister, Helen Janette Jennings of Arnold, Missouri; and by several grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Eugene Moore and James Richard Moore; and by two sisters, Emmer Jane Bledsoe and Carrie Belle Moore.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Justin Sponaugle officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with full military honors.

Linda Nea Patrick

Linda Nea Patrick, daughter of the late Willard Nea and Jean Beard Nea, was born on April 24, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2015 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston at the age of  78.

Mrs. Patrick had worked as a timekeeper for McQuay-Norris in St. Louis and was a resident of Dexter, Missouri. 

On July 12, 1974, she was united in marriage to Charles Patrick in St. Clair County, Illinois.  Mr. Patrick preceded her in death on January 1, 1995.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen Woodring and his wife Sue of Ponchatoula, Louisiana and Charles Woodring and his wife Cindy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; by one step-son, Donald Patrick and his wife Linda of St. Charles, Missouri; by one daughter, Jeanne Ann Woodring of St. Louis; by two brothers, Charles Nea and Scott Nea, both of St. Louis; by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.

T.J. Stephens, Jr.
T. J. "Bud" Stephens, Jr., son of the late Thomas Joel, Sr. and Iva Mae Evans Stephens, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on September 21, 1936, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on April 18, 2015, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 28 days.

He had lived in St. Louis before returning to Dexter over forty years ago. He had worked at General Cable in St. Louis and was a self employed plumber. He was of the Methodist faith.

On July 15, 1956, he was married to Genevieve "Jeannie" Carpenter in Lodi, California. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters and spouses, Dollie & Dewayne Stoner of Dexter, Roxanne "Rocky" & David Ashby of DeBary, Florida; two sons and spouse, Thomas Joel "Joe", III & Kari Stephens of O'Fallon, Missouri, Charles E. "Chuck" Stephens of Dexter, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and one sister & spouse, Irma & Gene Jackson of Aid. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Honey and Francis Price.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 25, 2015, after 12:30 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev.  of  officiating.

Missouri Military Honors will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
