This event was a big challenge for Cortez for multiple reasons. Frank's opponent, Jason Huncovsky from Finney’s Hit Squad, was recognized in the St. Louis area as a premier MMA fighter. This was also one of the first times that Cortez would perform in front of such a large venue of over 9,000 spectators.
The match was a fiercely fought battle with Cortez winning the fight by unanimous judge’s decision of 29-28 after three rounds. The match was also awarded Fight of the Night, earning over 95% of the votes.
The excitement of the night wasn’t over with the fight. Cortez received the opportunity with meet with and be interviewed by The Sports Cage Blog Talk Radio’s host Debo Lyn Hart Jr. before his fight. Debo was very impressed with Cortez and the team, and invited him back for a post-fight interview with Knuckle Junkies.

Cortez, now with an MMA record of 8-2, is in line to fight for the Midwest Light Heavyweight title as well as will be defending his Brawl Inc. Light Heavyweight title in the upcoming months.
The Dark Horse team and their coach, Joe Davis, are very proud of Cortez’s achievements as he has worked hard to earn them.
"Cortez never misses a practice and works extra hard to improve his cardio and strength conditioning."
For updates on Cortez and the rest of the Dark Horse team follow them on their facebook page, Dark Horse MMA, as they keep it updated with fight information, tshirt sales, and other things going on with the team. They are all looking forward to what 2015 has to bring.

Dexter, Missouri – The Dexter Rotary Club works hard all year long raising money for various projects in Stoddard County. This year they decided to have a Donation Building “box” built for the Stoddard County Gospel Mission.
This was a much-needed item at the Gospel Mission. They were receiving donations over the weekend and by the time the employees came to work on Monday, many items were broken and scattered across the sidewalk and parking lot. This way when you donate your gently used items they will be reusable and protected from the rain and snow.
"Thank you so much, Rotary Club of Dexter! We have needed this for such a long time! The box is being used on a daily basis already!!" Kim Slavings, Director of the Stoddard County Gospel Mission told the Rotarians. The Dexter Rotary Club along with a grant donated more than $2,350 to have the building built by LANCO Portable Buildings.
Several Rotarians came out and help set the building as well as put in a steel plate in the floor that was purchased from Bruce Miller, owner of Specialty Engineering Corporation and fellow Rotarian.
Christian Memorials and Signs of Dexter made the Rotary sign.
Shown in the photo from left to right are Rotarians Gene Weeks, Ken Harris, Phil Ternes, Kim Slavings (Director of the Stoddard County Gospel Mission), Dave Ellinghouse, Danny Talkington, Bill Boone, Barry Winders, Henry Kestner, and Dee Loflin.
There motto as Rotarians is "service above self" and supporting the Stoddard County Gospel Mission is one of many ways they follow the spirit of that motto!

The Rotary Club holds several community dinners, works a food booth at the Stoddard County Fair, hosts numerous blood drives, and an annual 4 Person Golf Scramble in the summer to raise money for many local groups. Their motto is Service Above Self and they work hard all year long to give to many area people who are less fortunate.
The Dexter Rotary Club meets weekly for breakfast or lunch and is currently looking for new members. If you are interested in becoming a member contact Mr. Jack Rodgers at 573-624-5762 or jrod63841@yahoo.com. Their motto is Service Above Self!
The Dexter Rotary Club also sponsors a student led group, Interact, and any Stoddard County high school student is eligible to join. They meet once per month on the first Sunday.

As the holiday season approaches, the American Red Cross is asking you to give something that means something.
Whether you host a blood drive or give blood, you'll be giving a gift that can help save a life. When you do, you'll discover the true meaning of giving – and it won't cost a thing!
You can help encourage others to get in the giving spirit, too. Just share this video on social media along with #GiveWithMeaning.
The American Red Cross asks eligible donors to make an appointment to give blood to help ensure sufficient blood supplies are available for patients this holiday season.
Blood donations often decline during the holidays when donors get busy with travel and family gatherings, but the need for blood remains steady. Someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds.
Eligible donors with all types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative. To learn more about donating blood and to schedule an appointment, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
As extra encouragement to donate blood during the busiest time of November for many people, presenting blood donors from Nov. 26 through Nov. 30 will receive a limited-edition Red Cross potholder stuffed with unique celebrity chef recipes, while supplies last. Thanksgiving recipes are courtesy of Mario Batali, Rocco DiSpirito, Alex Guarnaschelli and Mike Isabella.
