Marian Duley

Marian Duley

Marian Duley, daughter of the late Roy Loper and Cordelia Meldrum Loper was born on January 18, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan and departed this life on December 25, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at the age of 87.

Mrs. Duley was a home-maker, a resident of Dexter and had attended the Midland Church in Poplar Bluff.

On January 22, 1945 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Duley in Dexter.  Mr. Duley preceded her in death on December 9, 2012.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel and wife Terry Duley of Owosso, Michigan, Martin and wife Loraine Duley of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and David Duley of Dexter; by one daughter, Yvonne and husband Kenneth Hutchison of Mt. Rose, Michigan; by three sisters, Bernadine Triplett of Robinsville, North Carolina, Minnie Baughman of Port Richey, Florida and Betty Tracy of Owosso, Michigan; by fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rick White officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel cemetery.

Tracie Carter Young

Tracie Carter Young, daughter of Judy Smiley Carter and Sherman Carter both of Bernie, was born on August 23, 1969 in Poplar Bluff and departed this life on December 23, 2014 at her residence in Bernie at the age of 45.

Tracie attended the First Baptist Church of Bernie. After graduating from Bernie High School in 1988, she later received an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff. Tracie was a former convenience store owner in downtown Bernie and a Correctional Officer at the Southeast Missouri Correctional Facility in Charleston.

Besides her parents she is survived by two daughters, Chelsea Cornwell of St. Louis and Mackenzie Young of Dexter; by one brother, Bryan Carter of Poplar Bluff; by one sister, Crystal Thomas of Bernie; by two nieces, Whittney Carter and Chloe Carter and by five nephews, James Carter, Javin Thomas, Jadin Thomas, Jace Thomas and Ryan Carter.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Darrin Carter.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Nova Inez Curd

Nova Inez Curd, daughter of the late Homer C. Henderson and Dora Holt Henderson, was born on April 11, 1929 at Siloam Springs, Arkansas and departed this life on December 21, 2014 at Golden Living Center in New Madrid, Missouri at the age of 85.

Mrs. Curd was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

On November 12, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lee Junior Curd at Bloomfield, Missouri.  Mr. Curd preceded her in death on May 29, 1984.

She is survived by two daughters, Rita Batchelor of Dexter and Kimberly Hunsaker of Springfield, Missouri; by one brother, Doy Henderson of Tucson, Arizona; by two sisters, Dortys McAnulty of Sikeston, Missouri and Ava Crawford of Tucson, Arizona; and by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilburn Henderson and Walter Henderson; and by two sisters, Gladys Morgan and Betty Henderson.

A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

Clarence Albert Miller

Clarence Albert Miller, son of the late Luther Miller and Ida Gooch Miller, was born on June 20, 1920, in Leachville, Arkansas and departed this life on December 18, 2014 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter at the age of 94.

Mr. Miller was affiliated with the Second General Baptist Church.

Dexter and was a resident of Essex.  He had worked as a machine setter for General Motors-Buick Division in Flint, Michigan and he and his first wife also owned an antique shop in Michigan.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.

On July 19, 1941, he was united in marriage to Wilma Baird in Toledo, Ohio.  She preceded him in death on October 17, 1996.  He was then married to June Alberson McMullin on February 8, 2002 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Mrs. Miller survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Hourihane of Severna Park, Maryland and Deanna Marvin of Fenton, Michigan; by two stepsons, Lynn McMullin and Glenn McMullin, both of Essex; one step-daughter, June Clay of Dexter, by five grandsons, five step-grandsons and eight step-granddaughters; by twelve great-grandchildren; by eighteen step-great-grandchildren; and by two step-great-great-grandchildren. 

Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters; and by two grandsons. 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri.

Hazel Christine Burton
Hazel Christine Burton of Morehouse, daughter of the late Omer and Ruby Mason Freeman, was born in Polk County, Arkansas on October 2, 1931, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on December 17, 2014, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Mrs. Burton grew up in Arkansas and had lived in Morehouse, Missouri for many years and had lived in Bloomfield for 16 years. She had worked at the Holiday Inn.

On February 6, 1952, she was married to Daniel Lee Burton in Piggott, Arkansas.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel Lee Burton of Morehouse, Missouri; one daughter, Sheila Stratton of Dexter, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jason Burton of Morehouse, Pam Curd of Dexter, Jeffrey Stratton of Qulin, Jamie Greer of Andrews Airforce Base, Maryland, and Josh Appleton of Dexter; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Larry Freeman of Sikeston, Missouri; and one sister, Cindy Lewis of Texas. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Delotes Burton; one grandson, Justin Lee Curd; one great grandson, Caleb Ray Burton; two sisters, Claudia Gadberry and Katie Kinder; and two brothers, Charles and Dwayne Freeman.

Friends may visit Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev.  of , Missouri officiating.

Interment with be in the  Walker Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
