Michael Scott Colove

Michael Scott Colove, son of Terry Colove of Dexter and Sandy Clark of California was born on May 17, 1979 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on November 28, 2014 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 35 years.

Michael was a self-employed commercial carpenter in the surrounding area of Southeast Missouri. 

Besides his parents, survivors include one son, Eli Michael Colove of Sikeston, Missouri; three daughters, Kaidence Lorane Colove, Ariana Marie Colove and Gracie Mae Colove all of Dexter; by two brothers, Steven Hobb of California and David Jacob Colove of Dexter; one sister, Ronna Hays of California; and by his paternal grandfather, Bill Colove of Jackson, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Bill Pennington officiating.

Chester Gary Cravens, Sr.

Chester Gary Cravens, Sr., son of the late Bernard Harold Cravens and Syble Marie Hill Cravens, was born on December 23, 1932 in Fisk, Missouri, and departed this life on November 29, 2014 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 81.

Mr. Cravens had worked as a plant manager for John's Produce in Campbell, Missouri and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War.  He was a member of the Dexter VFW and the Dexter Elks Lodge.

On February 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marceline Bowman in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Mrs. Cravens survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Chester Gary Cravens, Jr. and his wife Sandy of West Plains, Missouri; by two daughters, Terry Lynn Freeman and her husband Mark of Euclid, Ohio and Janna Kay Schwartz and her husband Brian of Roanoke, Virginia; by two sisters, Shirley Ann Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida and Carolyn Sue Boone and her husband John of Charleston, South Carolina; by six grandchildren, Lauren Freeman, Lindsay Freeman, Jeff Cravens, Ben Cravens, Tasha Roberts and Danielle Harris; and by five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Satterfield.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with David and Melody Snodgrass officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, Greater Midwest Affiliate, Memorials and Tributes Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois 60674.

Hazel Verda Ross Pratt

Hazel Verda Ross Pratt, daughter of the late William Henry Ross and Maudie L. Patten Ross Pratt, was born on September 23, 1917 at Hitchita, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord on November 30, 2014 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 97.

She was united in marriage to Lester N. Pratt on October 14, 1934 in Lamar, Arkansas.  Mr. Pratt preceded her in death on September 3, 1977.

Survivors include four children, Christine (Carl) Neuber, Donna Marie (Fred) Rose, Terrence Michael Pratt, all of Dexter, and Sharon (David) Riley of New Bloomfield, Missouri; one brother, Ed Pratt of Sikeston, Missouri; one sister, Anita Payton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Dean Pratt and Larry Glen Pratt; by two grandsons, Marcus Stevenson and Dwayne Neuber; and by two brothers, Virble Ross and Claude Pratt.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Phillip Tanner officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Beulah Jones Shipman

Beulah Jones Shipman, daughter of the late James Madison Jones and Oma McAllister Jones, was born on July 23, 1921 in Salem, Missouri and departed this life on November 29, 2014 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 93.

Mrs. Shipman was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. 

On March 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lester Shipman in St. Louis, Missouri.  Mr. Shipman preceded her in death on February 22, 1992.

She is survived by one son, Douglas Shipman (Janine) of Dexter; by four daughters, Karen McGowen (Jeff) of Bernie, Marilyn Tucker (Gary) of Puxico, Gail Rothlisberger (Don) of Dexter and Betty McGowan (Johnny) of Bernie; by three sisters, Edith Shipman of Bloomfield, Dean Jones of Dexter and June Laramore of Potosi; by four grandchildren, Shannon Tucker of Dexter, Michael Jarrell of Bloomfield, Jeff Jarrell of Bloomfield and Drew Shipman of Cape Girardeau; by seven step-grandchildren; and by several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Buford Jones, by one sister, Lorene Hudgens and by one granddaughter, Yvette Tucker.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Travis Quertermous officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
