Michael Scott Colove

Michael Scott Colove, son of Terry Colove of Dexter and Sandy Clark of California was born on May 17, 1979 in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on November 28, 2014 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 35 years.

Michael was a self-employed commercial carpenter in the surrounding area of Southeast Missouri. 

Besides his parents, survivors include one son, Eli Michael Colove of Sikeston, Missouri; three daughters, Kaidence Lorane Colove, Ariana Marie Colove and Gracie Mae Colove all of Dexter; by two brothers, Steven Hobb of California and David Jacob Colove of Dexter; one sister, Ronna Hays of California; and by his paternal grandfather, Bill Colove of Jackson, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 2, 2014. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Bill Pennington officiating.

Beulah Jones Shipman

Beulah Jones Shipman, daughter of the late James Madison Jones and Oma McAllister Jones, was born on July 23, 1921 in Salem, Missouri and departed this life on November 29, 2014 at her residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 93.

Mrs. Shipman was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. 

On March 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lester Shipman in St. Louis, Missouri.  Mr. Shipman preceded her in death on February 22, 1992.

She is survived by one son, Douglas Shipman (Janine) of Dexter; by four daughters, Karen McGowen (Jeff) of Bernie, Marilyn Tucker (Gary) of Puxico, Gail Rothlisberger (Don) of Dexter and Betty McGowan (Johnny) of Bernie; by three sisters, Edith Shipman of Bloomfield, Dean Jones of Dexter and June Laramore of Potosi; by four grandchildren, Shannon Tucker of Dexter, Michael Jarrell of Bloomfield, Jeff Jarrell of Bloomfield and Drew Shipman of Cape Girardeau; by seven step-grandchildren; and by several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Buford Jones, by one sister, Lorene Hudgens and by one granddaughter, Yvette Tucker.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Travis Quertermous officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Marlin O. Sonny Martin

Marlin O. “Sonny” Martin, son of the late Marlin O. Martin Sr. and Edith Bomar Martin was born on March 17, 1941 in Peach Orchard, Missouri and departed this life on November 26, 2014 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 73.

Mr. Martin was a self employed farmer, veteran of Missouri National Guard, member of Missouri Research and Merchandising Rice Council, was a avid fisherman, enjoyed feeding wildlife at Lake Wappapello, was of the Baptist Faith, and a resident of Bernie, Missouri. 

On November 10, 1962 he was united in marriage to Alice Shipman in Bernie, Missouri.  Mrs. Martin survives of the home in Bernie, Missouri.

Besides his wife, other survivors include three sons, Tim Martin and wife Michelle of Bernie, Missouri, Mike Martin and wife Amber of Dexter, and David Martin of Dexter; by two sisters, Dene Wright of Bakersfield, California and Katherine Sisk of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Bailey Martin, Shelby Martin, Taylor Martin, and Maycie Martin.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanene Porter.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2014. 

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Ivan Mekan officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Mary Ulen

Mary Ulen, daughter of the late William and Hattie Irons was born on November 24, 1914 in Essex and passed away on November 27, 2014 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 100.

Mrs. Ulen was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter.

On October 10, 1936 she was united in marriage to Walter Jean Ulen in Waterloo, Illinois.  Mr. Ulen preceded her in death on April 10, 1979.  

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. Jaeger and husband Jerry of Dexter; by four grandchildren, Kim Brandon, Kelly Johnson, Anna Marie Irons and Andrew Boyt; by three great-grandchildren, Ty Johnson, Rylee Johnson and Sam Diffendorfer; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Lalani and Lyra .

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linn Ulen; by two brothers, Verne Irons and William Irons and by four sisters, Dora Thrower, Harriett Cox, Wanda Stedlin and Emma Kennedy.

Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tom Bass officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Dexter cemetery

Randy Alan Stewart

Randy Alan Stewart, son of Charles Stewart of Wyandotte, Michigan and the late Anna Ruth Spurlock Stewart, was born on October 14, 1959 in Dearborn, Michigan and departed this life on November 23, 2014 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 55.

Mr. Stewart was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter, and he was previously employed as the customer service manager at New Wave Communications in Dexter.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one son, Brian Stewart of Springfield, Tennessee; by one daughter, Heather Stewart Scroggins of Dexter; by three brothers, Jack Stewart of Franklin, Kentucky, Dennis Stewart of Belleville, Michigan, and Garry Stewart of Jackson, Tennessee; by one sister, Sharon Allen of Milan, Michigan; by seven grandchildren, Anna Ruth, Abigayle, Carter, Jonathan, Cadyn, Kaylee Jo and Peyton; and by his ex-wife, Arlene Stewart.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
