Dexter, Missouri – The ShowMe Times is proud to announce the 4th Annual PigSkin Pick’em Challenge 2014.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?!?!  We are going to go a little easy this week with just Friday night high school games to choose from.  Just click SPORTS at the top of the ShowMe Times page and in the drop down menu will be PigSkin Pick’em Challenge game.  Register for the new 2014 season and begin playing!

Games this week will feature: Dexter at Ste. Gen, Charleston at Sikeston, Caruthersville at Liberty, Chaffee at Grandview, Fredericktown at Kennett, New Madrid County Central at Malden, Hayti at Thayer, Cape Central at Vashon, Kelly at East Prairie, and St. Vincent at Valle Catholic.  May the best Man or Woman Win!!!!

In the PigSkin Pick’em, the object is simple: We post several games a week for the next 10 weeks, featuring local high school football, college and some pro games, you pick and earn a chance to WIN! 

Win?!?  Yes you can win prizes throughout football season.  Each week we will give away a wonderful prize to the 3rd place winner!!!  Now that’s something different!

At the end of the contest period, the top point scorer will win the grand prize, a 42” Flat Screen TV!

The PigSkin Pick’em Challenge will be exciting!  The full rules and regulations are as follows:

ShowMe Times Pigskin Pick’Em Challenge Official Rules & Regulations

1. Rules of Entry

No purchase necessary. Participants are required to provide their full name, phone number, and working email address to have completed a valid account. One valid account per participant.

If multiple accounts are detected for a single participant, the account(s) in question will be disabled and the participant’s points will be disqualified.

Contest participants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Participants grant to the ShowMe Times the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
 

2. Contest Winners

Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If ShowMe Times cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification. The ShowMe Times reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
 

3. Scoring

Each week there will be several games for each user to pick from, solely on a ‘what team wins’ basis. No merit will be given to score predictions, etc.

One point will be given for each correct pick.

4. Prize Drawings

Each week, the #3 winner (judged on the three highest weekly point totals) will receive a prize, selected at random, from a local business. Something a little different!

At the end of the ten (10) week contest, the participant with the highest season-long point total will be the winner of the grand prize.

In the event of a tie in point totals, either for the weekly prize or the season-long ‘grand’ prize, the tie-breaking method will be a random drawing from the names of all participants involved in the tie.

5. Privacy Policy

Every week, you will receive a summary of your picks to the email address provided during registration. For your convenience, you can also provide your cellular telephone number during registration.

If a user wins a prize, the user will be notified by Facebook or Twitter.

Dexter Parks & Rec Volleyball Schedule Released

Dexter, Missouri – Athletes in grads 4th – 7th grade participate each year in the annual Dexter Parks & Recreation fall Volleyball.   Games are slated to begin Saturday, August 23rd with two Divisions on the court.

Division 1 consists of 4th and 5th grade students.  Division 2 consists of 6th and 7th grade students. 

Division 1 teams are the Green Team, Pink Team, Brown Team, and Light Blue Team.  Division 2 teams are the Safety Pink Team, Black Team, Safety Green Team, and the Safety Orange Team.

Coaches are:

Div 1 Green Team:  Heather Greer and Brooke Smith

Div 1 Pink Team:  Jodi Burnett and Cindy Whitaker

Div 1 Brown Team: Cory Hill and Kelby Hill

Lion's Club Annual Golf Tournament a Success!

Dexter, Missouri – The 14th Annual Lion’s Club 4-Person Scramble was held at the illustrious Hidden Trails Golf Course in beautiful Dexter, Missouri.

Tim Young and Billy Fowler orchestrated a pride of volunteers to host the annual event.  160 players making up 40 teams participated and raised money for the Dexter Lion’s Club! 

The Lion’s Club hosts numerous events to raise money for needed projects.  They recently installed two lion head fountains at the city of Dexter’s East and West Parks.  They focus on sight conservation as well and have worked with local schools to secure eyeglasses for those in need.  Each year the Lion’s Club provides scholarships to local high school grads pursuing a college education.

Something new this year for the Dexter Bearcats.  TERMINOLOGY TUESDAY BY COACH PEDEN.  Each Tuesday, Coach Peden will give us a football word with a definition so we may all learn a little more about BEARCAT football!

Today's word is : Jamboree

A Jamboree is a round robin style of scrimmage play typically held before the start of a regular football season. Each team gets 12 plays on offense per scrimmage and no "official" score is kept.

The Dexter Bearcats will participate in an annual Jamboree Friday, August 15th at Kennett High School. It will start at 6 pm. Please come out and support your Bearcats!! 

The Bearcats are hoping for a great season and have been working most of the summer getting in shape and are ready to tackle some good teams slated for the 2014 season. 

"We are excited about the jamboree this Friday," stated Head Football Coach Justin Peden. "The guys are ready to show everyone what we have been working on all summer. This group of young men have been working tirelessly and hope to start the season off right."

Friday, August 15th at 6:00 p.m.  Come out and watch the Bearcats have a great start to the season!!  Support your team and wear RED and BLACK!

Missouri Mayhem Earns Bid in the ASA Class D National Tournament

Cape Girardau, Missouri – The Missouri Mayhem took 2nd place at the Men’s “D: South State Championship Tournament in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the Shawnee Sports Complex.  They made a miraculous comeback losing their first game and then winning 6 straight games to make it to the Championship. 

The Missouri Mayhem team lost their first game to Cruel Intentions of Poplar Bluff, then won the next six defeating SEMO Swing 15 – 5, Bad Decisions Lemon Squeezers 12 – 10, MO Smash/Bank of MO 18 – 14, Cruel Intentions 18 – 14 before being defeated in the Championship game by the 618 Team.

They also earned a Nationals bid in Liberty, Missouri on September 5th – 7th in the ASA Class D National Tournament for finishing in the top two spots in Cape.
