Jake Grubbs

Jake Grubbs

Jake Grubbs, son of the late Callie and Pearl Grubbs, was born on April 13, 1926 in Parma, Missouri and departed this life on June 26, 2014 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 88.

Mr. Grubbs was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.  He had worked as a Janitor for Purolater Manufacturing in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter.

On March 12, 1945 he was united in marriage to Jean Ann Grubbs in Parma, Missouri.  Mrs. Grubbs preceded him in death on August 12, 2009.

He is survived by three sons, Russell Grubbs of Bloomfield, Roger Grubbs of Dexter and Donald Grubbs of Wappapello; by five daughters, Debra “Debby” Grubbs, Patsy McCoy, Mary Tucker, Wanda “Cookie” West, all of Dexter and Christina Grubbs of Doniphan; and by nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Grubbs, Oakley Grubbs and Lloyd Grubbs; by three sisters, Polly Grubbs-Ross, Edna Grubbs Williamson and Theda Grubbs Rodgers; by two grandsons, Derek Lee Turner and Robert McCoy; by one granddaughter, Diana Holderfield; and by one great-grandson, Eric McCoy.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Sister Karen Oldham-Hardin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with full military honors.
