Tula Mae Langford
Tula Mae Langford, daughter of the late Juneous and Nellie Boismenue Linson, was born in Puxico, Missouri on September 20, 1920, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on June 29, 2014, at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 9 days.

She was raised in Puxico, spent from 1941 to 2004 in California before returning to Puxico. She was a member of the Egypt Community Church. She had enjoyed quilting and working in her flowers.

Surviving are one daughter, Estella Mae McBride of Weed, California; two sons and spouse, Gary Laydel Langford of Doris, California, Roy & Diaon Langford of Roseville, California; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Linson of Martin, Tennessee; four sisters, Mary Bauman of Fenton, Missouri, Wilma Allbritton of Poplar Bluff, Clara Stilts of McGee and Shirley Linson of Puxico. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Ashley Langford, one sister, Pauline Allen and five brothers, Juneous, Junior, Raymond, Claude and John Linson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Bro. Greggory Whittle officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Charlest Dwaine Hoggard, Sr.

Charles Dwaine Hoggard, Sr., son of the late A. C. Hoggard and Ruthie B. Flowers Hoggard, was born on June 14, 1943 in Malden, Missouri and departed this life on July 1, 2014 at SoutheastHEALTH Center of Stoddard County in Dexter at the age of 71. 

Mr.Hoggard had retired from the tool and die department at Arvin in Dexter, was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a resident of Dexter.

On April 13, 1974 he was united in marriage to Carol Jackson in Kennett, Missouri.  Mrs. Hoggard survives at the home. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, David Hoggard of Texas, Shannon D. Hoggard of Malden, Brad Calbert of Springfield, Charles Dwaine Hoggard, Jr. of Dexter and Bobby Dwaine Hoggard of Dexter; by two daughters, Tonya Wethington of Dexter and Leah Cecil of Dexter; by two sisters, Betty Stafford of Malden and Shirley Edwards of Holcomb; and by seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Terrie Hoggard; and by one sister, Ann Chase.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on July 3, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Richard Blagg officiating. 

Interment with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Donald E. Melton
Donald E. Melton, son of the late Mattie Christine Melton, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 26, 1931, and passed away at his home in Puxico on June 30, 2014, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 4 days.

He had lived in Lee Vining, California, Houston, Texas and St. Louis before moving to Puxico in 1980. He had worked for the St. Louis County Water Company and at Arvin Automotive. He is a member of the Puxico Christian Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force.

On June 10, 1954, he was married to Helen Green in St. Louis, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Melton of Puxico; one daughter & husband, Lana & Patrick Kelley of Poplar Bluff; two sons and wife, Robin Melton of Wappapello, Derek & Michelle Melton of Puxico; seven grandchildren, Heather McNew, Ian Kelley, Ethan, Tanner, Logan, Ben and Emily Melton; two great grandchildren, Bradley & Kyle McNew. Other family and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Puxico Christian Church in Puxico, Missouri.

Donald Ray Martin

Donald Ray Martin, son of the late Charles Martin and Frances George Martin, was born on March 13, 1929 in Forrestdale, Ohio and departed this life on June 25, 2014 at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 85.

 

Mr. Martin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter.  He retired from the United States Navy after serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.  He had worked as a business consultant for a printing company and was a resident of Dexter.

 

He was united in marriage to Mary Virginia Lee in Blytheville, Arkansas.  Mrs. Martin survives at the home.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters, Donna Frost of Santa Barbara, California, Lynn Chavez of Alpine, California, Laura McClain of Spring Valley, California, Linda Dixon of Dexter, Jackie Murphy of Poway, California and Dawn Bennett of Dexter; and by fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter Friday, June 27, 2014 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Barry Winders officiating. 

 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Raymond Whitehead

Raymond Whitehead, son of the late Joe Whitehead and Zetta Wilson Whitehead was born in Naylor, Missouri on March 16, 1927 and departed this life at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto, Missouri on June 26, 2014 at the age of 87.

Mr. Whitehead was retired from the Painting Industry, having served as Vice-President of Bush and Latta Painting.  He was a resident of Farmington, Missouri. 

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Whitehead in Piggot, Arkansas on June 22, 1946.  Mrs. Whitehead preceded her husband in death on December 24, 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Bannister of Farmington, Missouri and by Cathy Schanz of Festus, Missouri; by three sisters, Bonnie Hinton of Pevely, Missouri, Connie Steven of the state of Illinois and Joeann Shrum of the state of Utah; by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Also by other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.  

Funeral Services will then be conducted at 12:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.  Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Campbell, Missouri.
