Dexter, Missouri - T.S. Hill Middle School students have something to be very proud of as they travel all the way to Richmond, Virginia.  They are competing at the National Jr. Beta Convention in June.

Robert Shell (far right in the photo) of Bud Shell Ford presented Principal Scott Kruse with a check in the amount of $5,080 to go towards their expenses for the trip.

The money was raised through a "Drive 4 Your School" campaign held last month at the Bearcat Event Center.

Any business wishing to contribute to the Jr. beta Club are asked to call Scott Kruse at 573-614-1010.

This group of students will depart Dexter on Friday, June 20th.  The competition is June 21st - June 24th.  The theme this year is Making History With Beta.  Students will have the opportunity to compete in speech, spelling, language arts, math, science, poetry, and social studies.  There will also be entertaining competitions like the Songfest Competition or various skits to be performed.  There will also be a Quiz Bowl Competition, Living Literature, and Poster Competition.

Students will also have fun with Black & White Photography, Color Photography, Digitally Enhanced Photography and Oil or Acrylics in the Arts Division.  There is even a section on crafts that will include Cross-Stitch, Handmade Jewelry, and Quilting.

Members who are competing are Madelyn Webb, Amber Scott, Abbie Dorton, Anna Bishop, Shawna Thompson, Maycie Martin, Michaela Gard, Cassie Bess, Caleb Hoggard, Jordan Adams, Sean Rybolt, Dylan Long, Logan Elder, Joe Rice, and Matthew Chesser.
