New Madrid, Missouri - The Bearcat Wrestling Team traveled to New Madrid County Central to take on the Eagles and the Notre Dame Bulldogs.  The Bearcats dominated both teams, defeating the Bulldogs 63 - 9 and the Eagles 59 – 18.

Coach James Sneed was pleased with the overall performance of his athletes and continues to see their hard work and dedication pay off. 

"I thought we wrestled pretty well considering the Varsity wrestlers haven't wrestled since December 21st in the Harrisonville Holiday Tournament," noted Coach Sneed.  "Three weeks of practice and no matches gets old."

The 145 and 152 weight classes continue to be an exciting set of matches as senior Trevor Waldner and sophomore Ethan Stevens are very skilled on the mat against opponents.  Waldner pinned Aaron Schlosser of Notre Dame in 3:22 and won by technical fall over Jordan Lynn of New Madrid 19-4.  Stevens pinned Cole Nowell of New Madrid in 4:39 and by decision over Nick Pfau of Notre Dame 9-3.

In the 113-weight class Brandon Twomey pinned Phillip Stegman of New Madrid in 3:24 and won by decision over Noah Huff of Notre Dame 8-1.

Ty Harmon of Dexter defeated Rhile Smith of New Madrid in the 120-weight class by decision 6-2 and pinned Hunter Miller of Notre Dame in just 27 seconds. 

In the 160-weight class Dylan Bazarian pinned Stephen Hoffmeister of Notre Dame in only 49 seconds and then pinned Terrez Taylor of New Madrid in 44 seconds.

"Ty Harmon and Storm Massey both had good nights while dropping down a weight class, which should help them as we continue through the season."

JV wrestlers will be in action at the Jackson JV Tournament this Saturday @ 10:00 as the Varsity Wrestlers travel to Ste. Genevieve to participate in the Ste. Gen Duals.
