Cape Girardeau, Missouri – The Dexter Freshman boys basketball team traveled to Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau on a very cold Wednesday evening to play the Bulldogs.
The first quarter was all Bulldogs scoring 14 points; however the Bearcats rallied back in the second quarter and gained scoring 11 points. Half time score Notre Dame 23 Dexter 17.
The Bulldogs broke loose in the third quarter shutting down Dexter completely with a 17 point run giving them quite the upper hand going into the 4th quarter.
Notre Dame’s Nick Powers scored a team-high 9 points including 1 trey.
The Bearcat’s Jason Jarrell had the game-high score of 12 points hitting 5 buckets and was 2/3 at the charity stripe. Zach Potts sank the only 3-poiter for Dexter.
“We played a good first half,” stated coach Shawn Guethle, “Coming out after half-time we let Notre Dame’s pressure get to us a little bit.”
