Arthur "Bernard" Pixley, son of the late Melvin W. Pixley and Gertrude H. Williams Pixley, was born on August 15, 1920 in Advance, Missouri and passed away on May 3, 2013 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Facility in Dexter at the age of 92 years.
Mr. Pixley was a resident of Dexter and owned and operated Pixley's Body Shop in Dexter for several years, while also maintaining a small farm where he enjoyed raising horses and cattle. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years and was also a dedicated supporter of The Light For The Lost Ministries. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Kenady-Hanks American Legion Post #59 in Dexter. It was his military service that allowed him a wonderful trip to Washington, D.C. in 2007 as a World War II Veteran.
As Mr. Pixley spent his last days at the Cypress Point Nursing Facility, he stole the hearts of all who met him. His caregivers are among those who will miss him the most.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Mary Miranda of Dexter, Missouri, Linda Taylor of Dexter, Missouri and Janell Walden of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; by two sisters, Drucille Ayers and Betty Brannock, both of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, also by many other relatives and friends.
On January 9, 1964, he was united in marriage to Eunice Jarrell Martin in Bernie, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2009.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a spouse, Mary Beckham Pixley; by two sons, Jimmie Pixley and Dale Pixley; by two stepsons, Russell Martin and Allen Martin; by two sisters, Joan Williams and Wilma Stovall; and by one brother, Lyman Pixley.Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, May 6, 2013 from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Petty and Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
