Orval Payton

Orval Payton

Orval Payton, son of the late Crit Payton and Mary Martha Malin Payton, was born on January 31, 1933, in Aid, Missouri, and passed away on January 19, 2013, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 79.

 

Mr. Payton worked in the shipping department of Purolator Filter Company in Dexter, he was of the General Baptist faith and a resident of Dexter.

 

He was united in marriage to Irene Lee on July 18, 1987, in Sturdivant, Missouri.  Mrs. Payton survives of the home.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sherry Lynn Stephens of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, Sheila Yvonne Jibben of Dexter, Missouri, and Sandra Lee Slaughter of Puxico, Missouri; by one brother, Bobby Gene Payton of Dexter, Missouri; by two sisters, Lucille Pratt of Dexter, Missouri, and Thelma Sherman of North Las Vegas, Nevada; by four grandchildren, Gregg Lee Claunch, Amelia Jibben, Brad Watkins and William Michael Stephens; by two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Wayne Watkins and Jesse Lee Watkins.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Eugene Payton; two brothers, J. C. Payton and Kenneth Payton; and by two sisters, Virginia Griffith and Louise Marlowe.

 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Cooper and Rev. James Wade officiating. 

 

Interment will follow in the Harper Cemetery.

Mack Mullins

Mack Mullins, son of the late Vince and Madie Stiltner Mullins, was born in Grundy, Virginia, on March 11, 1946, and passed away at his home in Dudley, Missouri on January 17, 2013, at the age of 66 years.

He had lived in Chicago and moved to Dudley in 1975. He was a board member of the People's Full Gospel Church and was a Mason member in Bloomfield, Missouri.  He worked as the Police Chief for the Department of Veteran Affairs and had worked for the City of Dudley for nearly 37 years.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

On August 27, 1967, he was married to Frances Lucille Minyard in Dyer, Indiana.

Surviving are his wife; Frances Lucille Mullins of Dudley, Missouri; two sons, Michael Mullins of  Dudley, Missouri, Shawn Mullins of Dudley, Missouri ; one daughter, Cynthia Nordin of Dexter, Missouri; his mother, Madie Mullins of Dudley, Missouri; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Blieze of Chicago, Illinois, and Vadie Tullis of Dyresburg, Tennessee. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Vince Mullins.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Dudley Cemetery in Dudley, Missouri with Bro. James Tipton and long time friend Dennis Fowler, both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, officiating.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

William E. Monroe

William E. “Will” Monroe was born on April 22, 1944, in Averett, Missouri, to the late Lawrence T. Monroe and Claudine Morse Monroe.  He departed this life on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the age of 68 years at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Will was united in marriage to Helen Hoopingarner on December 11, 1964, in Dexter, Missouri, and to this union two children were born.  Mrs. Monroe survives of the home.

Also surviving is one son, Keith Monroe, of Dexter; and one daughter, Kari Standley, of Bloomfield; two grandsons, Logan Monroe of McMinnvile, Tennessee, and Ethan Standley of Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Baylie Davis and Dakoda Monroe of Dexter; one sister, Audrey Jackson, of Madison, Mississippi; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Monroe, of Bloomfield.

Mr. Monroe was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He served from June 1961 to May 1964, with most of his enlistment in Munich, Germany.  He received an honorable discharge in May of 1964.  He also served five years in the Missouri National Guard.

He was a past member of the Amvets Post in Bloomfield, Missouri, and was currently a member of the Wappapello VFW Post #3418 and the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439, having served as Exalted Ruler in 1996-1997.

He had worked at Dexter Aircraft, Inc., Monarch Feed Mills and then retired from Tyson Foods as Truck Shop Foreman and mechanic. 

Will loved spending time with his family and friends and also loved gardening, fishing and being outdoors.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, January 21, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Brett Wright and Rev. Roger Wooten officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Daniel Joe Whittemore

Daniel Joe Whittemore, son of Sherry Lynn Atteberry Whittemore of Dexter and the late Gary Joe Whittemore, was born on May 4, 1978, in Hayti, Missouri, and departed this life on January 16, 2013 at the age of 34 years.

Mr. Whittemore was a truck driver for Pete Tanner Solid Waste in Delta, Missouri and a resident of Advance, Missouri.

On May 2, 2004 he was united in marriage to Sarah Walker in Dexter, Missouri.  Mrs. Whittemore survives of the home in Advance, Missouri.

Besides his wife and mother, survivors include his five daughters; Brittany Nacole Whittemore of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Chloe Marie Whittemore, Bailee Jo Whittemore, Emaleigh Elizabeth Whittemore and Alicia Anne Whittemore all of Advance, Missouri; by his step-father, Larry Carnell of Dexter; one brother, Jeremy Allen Whittemore of Charleston, Missouri; two sisters; Rebecca Lynn Whittemore and Stacey Ann Johnson both of Dexter.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 19, 2013. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Missouri.

Delbert E. Gilooly

Delbert E. Gilooly, son of the late James Hamilton Gilooly and Vivian Delores Crick Gilooly, was born on March 26, 1949, in Sikeston, Missouri, and passed away on January 13, 2013, at his residence in Bell City at the age of 63.

Mr. Gilooly was a rice consultant and a resident of Bell City.

On August 3, 1968, he was united in marriage to Jamie Edwards in Dexter.  Mrs. Gilooly survives at their residence in Bell City.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Kristin Parker of Dutchtown, Missouri; by one brother, Elbert Gilooly of Bloomfield; by one sister, Carolyn Rodgers of Puxico; and by three grandchildren, Mara Golden, Nickolas Golden and Gage Parker, all of Dutchtown.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darren Wade Gilooly.
