William Eli Pogue Jr., son of the late William Eli Pogue Sr. and Wilma Sweat Pogue, was born in Osceola, Arkansas on June 24, 1934, and passed away at his daughter's home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on April 19, 2012, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 25 days.
Mr. Pogue made his career in education. He served as the Principal at Puxico High School and at Mingo. He was also the Superintendent at Zalma Public Schools for 16 years. He was a member & treasurer of the Puxico Christian Church, Treasurer for the Puxico Masonic Lodge #596, Quartermaster of the Puxico VFW Post #7822, and served on the Stoddard County 911 Board. He enjoyed golf and community service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
On September 21, 1956, he was married to Jannette Campbell in Elk, Missouri.
Surviving are one son and fiancé, Gary Pogue and Janet of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and one daughter and son in law, Cheryl and David Kinder of Cape Girardeau; by two grandsons, Clint Pogue and Jared Kinder; one brother, Kenneth Pogue of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Ruby Murphy of Mena, Arkansas, Mary Schroeder of Arlington, Virginia. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call after 4 p.m., Sunday April 22, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. V.F.W. and Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
Funeral services will be held ay 9:3- a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Bobby Nordyke of Puxico officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Missouri Military Honors and the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Guard. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, in charge of arrangements.
