Rodney L. Corlew

Rodney L. Corlew, son of Mary M. Litzler Corlew and the late Charles William Corlew, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on July 9, 1959, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on February 12, 2012, at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 3 days.

He had lived in Essex and Dexter all his life. Rodney was a self employed truck driver and was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.

On February 18, 1995, he was married to Vickie Edwards in Dexter.

Surviving are his wife, Vickie Corlew of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Jessica Corlew of Bloomfield, Lindsey Corlew of Springfield, Missouri; one granddaughter, Rylee Corlew of Bloomfield; two brothers and spouse, Michael Joe Corlew of Essex, Charles Ray and Lisa Corlew of Aid; three sisters and spouses, Sandy K. and Glenn McMullin, Charlotte A. and Mark Stutts and Mary Jan Wheeler all of Essex. Other family and friends also survive.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012,  at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.,Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Rick Patterson of Athens, Tennessee, and the Rev. Tim Russell of Dexter, officiating.

Interment will be in Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Williams

Shirley Williams, daughter of Lucille Dunlap Woods of Jonesboro, Arkansas and the late Lloyd Woods was born on September 17, 1938 in Bono, Arkansas and died on February 9, 2012 at her residence in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 73.

Mrs. Williams was a former resident of Dexter currently living in Jonesboro.  She was the owner of Saveway Petroleum in Dexter.

On June 27, 1959 she was united in marriage to Sherrill Joe Williams in Dexter.  Mr. Williams preceded her in death on June 30, 1994.

Besides her mother she is survived by two brothers, Loy Woods of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Larry Woods of Alicia, Arkansas.

Besides her husband and father she was preceded in death by one son, Joe Williams; by one brother, Terry Woods and by one sister, Sharon Brown.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon, Saturday, February 11, 2012.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12 noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. M.C. Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hagy cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that all memorials be made to the 18 FORE LIFE, c/o Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, Missouri 63841.

Arlue Cantrell

Arlue Cantrell, daughter of the late William C. and Nellie Mae Bench Martin, was born on October 8, 1932, in Arkansas and passed away at her home in Bloomfield, Missouri on February 8, 2012, at the age of 79 years.

Mrs. Cantrell had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri most of her life. She attended the Bible Tabernacle and had worked at Gateway Shoes before her retirement.

On February 14, 1952, she was married to Albert Leon Cantrell in Arkansas. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1999.

Surviving are one son, Steve Cantrell of Bloomfield; one daughter, Linda Roberts of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Emilee Walker of Dexter, Stephen Garrett of Bloomfield. She is also surved by  two brothers, W. C. Martin of Dexter and Gaylon Martin of Puxico; and two sisters, Vivian Stroup of Marble Hill and Norma Welker of Advance. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edith Mayberry, Fay Johnson, and infant sister Thelma Louise Martin,; and by one brother, Louis Martin.

Friends may call 5 until 8 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m.,  Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Dudley Hamilton of Morehouse officiating. 

Internment will be at the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.

Thomas "Les" Nash

Thomas "Les" Nash, son of the late William and Nora Jennings Nash, was born in Dudley, Missouri on August 29, 1921, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on February 2, 2012, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 4 days.

He had lived in St. Louis before moving to Dexter in 1992. Les had worked as a core drill operator with the U. S. Corp of Engineers. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WW II. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion, the Dexter Eagles Aerie, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #532 in Dexter, and was a 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite.

Surviving are one daughter, Tamara Smoot of Nashville, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Kristina Morris of Nashville, Tennessee; one sister, Elizabeth Rose of Dexter. Other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Nash.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012, from  at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m,. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Roger Wooten of Dexter, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Harold Robert Smith

Harold Robert Smith, son of the late Albert and Lolita Smith, was born in East Orange, New Jersey, on July 17, 1922, and passed away at the Arbors at Auburn Creek in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 3, 2012, at the age of 89 years, 6 month and 17 days.

Mr. Smith lived in New Jersey and moved to Douglasville, Georgia where he lived for 20 years before moving to Southeast Missouri in 1988. He had been and engineer and designer with a sheet metal manufacturing plant. He had attended the Presbyterian Church, had served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of the V. F. W.

He was married to Sueretha Mildred DeLoach. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2009.

Surviving are one daughter husband husband, Sue and Steven Tippen of Bloomfield; one son and wife, Kevin & Sally Smith of Villa Rica, Georgia; one grandchild; and one great grandchild. Other family and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Tomczak and two sisters, Gloria Bailey & Louise "Tiny" Glaab.

Visitation will be held after 12:30 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter..

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
