Beulah Alma Andrews Davis O'Conner

Beulah Alma Andrews Davis O'Conner, 85, of Wappapello, Missouri passed away in the morning hours of February 23, 2012, at her home.

She was born in Wolf Lake, Illinois on November 24, 1926, daughter of the late Aden Robert Andrews and Hester Hodge Andrews. She grew up and attended school in the Puxico-Asherville areas in Stoddard County, Missouri. She had lived most of her life in Dexter and Wappapello.

She was a member of the Egypt Community Church in Puxico, was a former member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed gardening, cooking and her family.

She married James Frank Davis in 1942, and had three children. She wed Vondie William O'Conner, Sr., in 1952, and had five more children.

After welding navel ships during World War II in Rhode Island, Beulah dedicated her professional life to food preparation and food service in the Southeast Missouri region, as a manager, restaurateur, cook and waitress. She established life-long friendships with many of her customers and co-workers.

She is survived by her eight children, Ronald Davis of Sebring, FL, Daniel Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Davis of Fairbanks, AK, Vondie O'Conner, Jr. of Ratoui, KS, Michael O'Conner of Decatur, IL, Calvin O'Conner of Van Buren, AR, Arthur O'Conner of Poplar Bluff and Margaret Lizenbee of Puxico; her sister, Helen Pennington of Wappapello; her brothers, Cecil Andrews of Wappapello, Robert Andrews of Puxico and Carroll David Andrews of McGee; by nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, Lindsey, Kristen, Cody, Dalton, Aaron, Justin and William; two great grandchildren, Emma and Wade. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lester Andrews, Mildred Crabtree, Lois Henley and Glen Andrews.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Wayne Burchett of Puxico officiating. 

Interment will be in Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements

Rose Mary Rushing of Oxford, Michigan, formally of Dexter, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2012 at the age of 82. 

Rose Mary worked for Clinton Valley Center in Pontiac for 24 years and at POH for 10 years. She liked to crochet, but most of all she loved her family; they were everything to her

Mrs. Rushing was married to Wallace Rushing, who preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of Ron (Sue) Rushing, Brenda (Charles) Fotheringham, and Donna (Tom Montgomery) Ross; special grandmother of Jennifer, Erik, and Angel; great grandmother of Zachary, Danny Cruz, Jazmyn, and Marcus; sister of Betty Jo and James Biggs.  Also survived by Mary Berg, who was like a daughter.

She was preceded in death by 10 siblings. 

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Coats Funeral Home in Waterford.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, February 19 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 20 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Internment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Ray Edward Null, son of Ronda Orton Merriman, was born in Mounds, Illinois on July 17, 1985, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on February 15, 2012, at the age of 26 years, 6 months and 29 days.

He had lived in Dexter most of his life. Ray had worked at Mid Continental Nail in Poplar Bluff.

Surviving are his mother, Ronda Merriman of Dexter; one son, Christopher Null; and one sister, Heather Mayberry of Dongola, Illinois. Other family and friends also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 2 .m., Sunday February 19, 2012, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating.

Ella Jane Abernathy Pry

Ella Jane Abernathy Pry, daughter of the late Jerome and Lizzie Summers Abernathy, was born November 30, 1912, in the Ardeola Community in Stoddard County, Missouri and passed away at her home in Bloomfield, Missouri on February 15, 2012, at the age of 99 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Mrs. Pry had lived in the Bloomfield area most of her life. She attended the Bell City United Pentecostal Church.

On May 16, 1931, she was married to Prentice Pry in Dexter. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1995.

Surviving are two daughters, Velva Latham of Cape Girardeau and Melba Hancock of Puxico; four sons, Dean Pry and Dewey Pry both of Dexter, Dr. Harry Pry of Cape Girardeau, and, James Pry of Kennett, Missouri, 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield,.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.,  Sunday, February 19, 2012, in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Interment will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge Cemetery, c/o Oma Cagle, 27638 CO RD 223, Advance MO  63730.

Janice Gay Powell, daughter of the late Jesse and Lucille Horseman Worker, was born on February 15, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Malden, Missouri at the age of 72.

Mrs. Powell graduated from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree; she received a Master’s degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.  Mrs. Powell taught school for one year in the Fayette Public Schools, one year in the Hazelwood Public Schools, and 26 years for the Malden Public Schools. She retired from the Malden schools in 1995.

Mrs. Powell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Malden. She enjoyed flying and was a licensed private pilot.

On January 23, 1960, she marred Sam Powell in Glendale, Missouri. Mr. Powell survives of the home in Malden.

Survivors include her husband and one son and daughter-in-law, Sam Powell Jr. and Elke of Dexter. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Andy and Caroline Goessling of Dexter and Emma Powell, also of Dexter.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Goessling.

Friends may call beginning at 12 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2011 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with Bill Hampton and the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.

Pallbearers will be Andy Goessling, Sam Powell Jr., Bill Hampton, Jerry Smith, Bud Hill, and Doug Dirks. Honorary Pallbearer will be Ben Bradshaw.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Malden United Methodist Church or the Dexter United Methodist Church.
