Charles Jeff Smith, son of the late John Tyler Smith and Anna D. Mayberry Smith was born on August 17, 1916 in Leora, Missouri and departed this life on October 26, 2011 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Emergency Room in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 95 years.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, Terminal Manager and Truck Driver for Hart Transportation in Dexter for 18 years, and a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Virginia Robinson on June 28, 1941 in Kennett, Missouri. Mrs. Smith survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include two brothers, Halen Smith of Puxico, Missouri and John C. Smith of Garden City, Michigan; also by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tim Smith; three half-brothers, Willard Smith, Elzie Smith, and Herbie Smith; one sister, Aleen Heckler; and by one half-sister, Essie Barnes.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Friday October 28, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2: p.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri.
