John Wesley Wiley, son of John Thurman Wiley and Sandra McTurnan, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on May 28, 1987, and passed away near Puxico, Missouri on September 15, 2011, at the age of 24 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Mr. Wiley worked at the Faurecia Company in Dexter, Missouri. 

He had lived in Puxico all of his life. On June 28, 2009, he was married to Lorrie Robinett in Bloomfield, Missouri. 

Surviving are his wife, Lorrie Wiley of Puxico, Missouri; his mother, Sandra McTurnan of Puxico, Missouri; his father, John Thurman Wiley of Puxico, Missouri; one brother, Joseph Wiley of Puxico, Missouri; his grandmothers, Rose McTurnan and Susie Wiley. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

 Friends may call on Monday, September 19, 2011, after 11 a.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 1 p.m., in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri. 

Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Thomas Crow
Ruth Thomas Crow, daughter of the late Martin Hoppe and Susie Haynes Hoppe was born on September 27, 1914 at Poplar Bluff and departed this life in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on September 14, 2011 at the age of 96.

Mrs. Crow was a member of Hopewell General Baptist Church near Essex, a former member of the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff for 54 years, the former owner of Burge Cleaners in Poplar Bluff, the past-president of Senior Citizens Club #1, the former pianist of Northside Nutrition Center in Poplar Bluff, a member of the Dexter O.A.K.S. Senior Choir and a resident of Dexter.

Her passion was playing the piano and singing with Senior Choirs. She loved spending time with her family and making new friends.

She was united in marriage to Robert C. Crow on February 14, 2007 near Essex. Mr. Crow survives of the home.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Chris Garrett of Blackstone, Virginia: by one daughter, Gloria Hampton of Dexter: by by four step-sons, Jimmie Burge, Phillip Crow, Terry Crow and Robert Crow Jr. all of Dexter: by one step-daughter, Donna Roberts of Bloomfield: by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Chester A. Garrett and Doyle L. Garrett: by one granddaughter, Shannon M. Brigance: by one brother, Loyd Hoppe.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 10 a.m.. until 12 noon, Saturday, September 17, 2011. Funeral services will then be conducted at 12 noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating. Interment will follow in the Black Creek Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Misssouri.

Corey “Petey” August Martin
Corey “Petey” August Martin, 34, left this earth on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at his home in Dexter, Missouri.

Corey is survived by his parents, Ron and Elvena Martin of Dexter, Missouri, by one brother, Ron Martin Jr. and his wife Nicky of Puxico, Missouri, and by three nephews, Ben Martin of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Nathan Martin of Puxico, Missouri, and Brandon Coleman of Advance, Missouri.

Also surviving are his grandmothers Lucille Newsom of Dexter, Missouri and Vadola Martin of Puxico, Missouri, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandfathers Elam “Cotton” Newsom and Elmer Martin.

Corey graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications.  He had been employed at Briggs and Stratton in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for twelve years.

Corey’s favorite past-time was following the World of Outlaws, Midget and USAC Racing Series.  Corey looked forward to starting his year in Tulsa, Oklahoma attending the renowned Chili Bowl Nationals.  A good weekend also consisted of traveling to Indiana to attend as many races as he possibly could in two days.  He was a member of the Hoosier Auto Racing Fan Club.  He loved visiting the pits and talking with all his very special extended racing friends and family.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011.  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11 a.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Dr. Larry Colvin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rock Point Cemetery near Swinton, Missouri.

Patricia Gutierrez, daughter of the late John Weston Morefield and Mary Tuttle Morefield, was born on October 7, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter at the age of 65.

Ms. Gutierrez was a former administrative assistant at the Diamonds Insurance Company in Los Angeles, California and a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include one daughter, Kim Reinbott and husband Bobby of Dexter, Missouri; by three sisters, Sharon Robinett of Roswell, New Mexico, Rona Allen of Dexter and Brenda Metcalf of Dudley, and by five grandchildren, Craig, Ricky, Brittany, Mary, and Grace.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m., on Friday, September 16, 2011.  Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.

Donald "Eddie" Mason, son of Mildred Arlene Rushin Mason and the late Bobby Lee Mason, was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 7, 1956, and passed away at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri on September 10, 2011, at the age of 55 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Eddie had lived in Dexter area most of his life. He was a member of the Dexter Eagle's Aerie and was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by three daughters, Shanna Metz of Dexter, Missouri, Meagan Mason of Salem, Missouri, Alexis Mason of Bloomfield, Missouri; one son, Eric Mason of Paducah, Kentucky; his mother, Mildred Mason of Dexter, Missouri; five grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby and Chester Mason both of Bloomfield, Missouri, Tommie Mason of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and one sister, Charlotte Hobbs of Dudley, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. James Malloy of Essex, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Harper Cemetery in Aid, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
