Regional Healthcare Foundation 2018 TRI Team Fitness Challenge Winners Named
Dexter, Missouri - It takes a lot of hard work, patience, and support to weigh in every week, but these winners did just that!  The Alpha Dawgs won First Place along with a $1,000 prize.  The team is comprised of Marilyn Brehmer, J.T. Brehmer, and Dalton Jackson.  Forty-three teams participated in the 2018 Challenge.

Dalton also won an individual prize of $250 for losing the most pounds, 63 lbs to be exact!  Congratulations!!

PTO Quilt Winner Named

Dexter, Missouri - Brenda Dowdy was chosen as the winner of the recent Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) drawing of a beautiful Dexter Bearcat quilt.

The PTO was created to promote the welfare of children in the school and to provide a closer relationship between school and home.

To promote educational awareness in the home.

To support adequate laws for the care and protection of all students.

To promote thru an educational program directed toward parents, teachers, and the general public and are developed thru conferences, committees, projects and programs.

The PTO is there to provide support for the teachers and students.

The PTO helps with costs of classroom supplies, field trips, playground equip., family fun nights, etc...

Dexter Students Receive Kiwanis Scholarship

Dexter, Missouri - Hannah Thurmon and Maci Daniels received $1,000 scholarships from the Dexter Kiwanis Club.  Scholarships will help with costs to attend college in the fall for each student.

Hannah is the daughter of Matt and Minday Thurmon.

She participated in volleyball for three year and basketball all four years of high school.

Hannah is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Sr. Beta Club, Pepp Club, and Future Teachers of America.

In volleyball her sophomore and senior seasons, she earned All Conference, 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Region, 1st Team All State and received the Dexter High School team Blocking Award.

Hannah received the Kill and Blocking Award in the SEMO Conference her senior season as well.

In basketball she earned All Conference, All District, and the Dexter High School team Blocking Award in both her freshman and junior season.  As a senior she has made the Lady Royals Classic All-Tournament Team ans was the Player of the Game at the Poplar Bluff Shootout.

Her future plans are to play basketball at Three Rivers College and major in Nursing.  She signed a letter of intent earlier this school year.

Maci is the daughter of John and Lori Daniels.

She has participated in volleyball four years and basketball cheer four years, 

She is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Business Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, National Honors Society, Sr. Beta, Model UN, Tobacco Free Missouri Youth Group, and Student Council.

Maci was a Top 10% for three years and Academic All State Volleyball her junior and senior years.

Her future plans are to attend Austin Peay University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Dexter, Missouri - On Thursday, May 3, 2018 Regional Healthcare Foundation will host their 1st Thursday.  Located at 529 North Walnut Street in Dexter on the first Thursday of each month.

“On behalf of the Regional Healthcare Foundation, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support and wonderful donations to this worthy cause,” press release from the Regional Healthcare Foundation.

It’s never to late to donate and they would love to receive gently used and unwanted items.  Their re-sale shop is always accepting donations.

Please contact Linda Ulm at (573) 624-0365 and she will schedule a time for you to drop off your items.  Tax credit forms are available upon request. 

Come out and shop their 1st Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Cox Corner in Dexter.  Proceeds go to the Mother-to-Mother Program at the Regional Healthcare Foundation.

The Mother To Mother (M2M) is a three-phase mentoring program to support young women who are pregnant or parenting by giving them the resources ad skills they need to become successful parents.

They provide them with CHOICES, OPPORTUNITIES, and ACHIEVEMENTS.  The Mother-to-Mother mentoring program works with the young women through their pregnancy and the first year of their child’s life.

They hold regularly scheduled activities where the girls can participate in programs that promote the physical and social growth of both parent and child.

They introduce participants to additional services in the community that can help them make choices that will bring about a better life for tem. After Phase I (pregnancy) and Phase II (baby’s first year) the girls may choose to remain in the program and contract with them to enter Phase III. 

In Phase III she may retain all the benefits of the program, if she agrees to continue her education or obtain employment. They believe that education will insure a brighter, more secure future for the young families by reducing the level of poverty.

Dexter, Missouri - Stoddard County Ambulance District (SCAD) will host a FREE CPR class for kids May 20th - May 26th for National Emergency Medical Services Week.

They have set aside May 23rd as National Pediatric EMS Day!

A Free Basic CPR and Choking Demonstration for children 8 years old - 14 years old.
