Former Dexter man again chosen for district role for statewide trade organization
Brian Thompson, president and chief executive officer of Lebanon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (Lebanon-REDI), was re-elected this week by regional peers to serve as a district director on the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) Board of Directors.
MEDC is the authoritative voice on economic development and related issues in Missouri. A statewide, nonprofit association of economic development professionals and community leaders, MEDC has been the unified voice of Missouri economic developers since 1979. Each year, seven different MEDC districts elect district directors to leadership roles to help unite members within their respective boundaries. Thompson was one of two professionals picked to serve MEDC District 6, which covers 26 counties in southwest Missouri.
“I am humbled that my peers from MEDC District 6 have once again selected me to serve as a co-director on the MEDC Board of Directors on behalf of our region,” said Thompson. “This continues a long-standing tradition of regional and statewide MEDC service by Lebanon and Laclede County economic development officials.”
MEDC drives economic growth through program initiatives and alliances with other economic development entities. This collaboration gives MEDC members access to industry-leading professional development, public policy, legislation and marketing communications programs. Whether working independently or in cooperation with partners, MEDC, its members and professional staff are effective, efficient and reliable.
“Lebanon-REDI has been able to maintain an important presence within the MEDC organization throughout our years of existence,” said Marc Roecker, chairman of the Lebanon-REDI board of directors. “We are pleased that District 6 economic development leaders once again elected Brian for this regional position, thus continuing REDI’s strong role within the statewide entity.”
Thompson is a 1999 graduate of Dexter High School with a pre-journalism degree from Three Rivers Community College (2001) and a degree in journalism with an emphasis on public relations from Arkansas State University (2003). His parents are Jimmy and Thelma Thompson of Dexter.

Dexter, Missouri – “Service Above Self” is the motto of the Dexter Rotary Cub. One of the oldest civic organizations in Stoddard County, these dedicated individuals spend hundreds of hours each year volunteering for many local charities and raising money for scholarships and other charitable projects.
On Friday, June 16th they will host their 12th Annual 4-Person Golf Scramble at Hidden Trails Country Club. $75 player or $300 per team entry fee will include mulligans, green fees, skins, 50/50, and a light meal following the scramble.
A Polo T-Shirt will be given to each player. Cash prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, and longest putt, 50/50 cash drawing and skins game. Tee-off is at 1:00 p.m. with registering beginning at noon. Shirt sponsors this year are Classic Home Loans, Jean & Co., One Mile Smile, and FM Bank of SEMO.

They have donated money to help those affected by the tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma. In 2015 they donated money to ShelterBox to help people of Nepal after a devastating earthquake destroyed much of the country. Other recent projects have been an added Donation Building given to the Stoddard County Gospel Mission, numerous blood drives including one dedicated to Levi, a young boy with cancer, and they have generously donate to the Disabled Veterans Wildlife Facility, Relay for Life, The Children’s Home, and other local charities.
The Dexter Rotary Club is also having a membership drive. If you are interested in becoming a member please come out and enjoy an afternoon of golf or just visit with the Rotarians for a bit. The public in encouraged to visit the Hidden Trails Country Club where an information booth will be available.

The 6th Missouri D Company will be at the Stars & Stripes Museum and discuss Civil War Fashion Show and Other Interesting Facts.

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Sassy Stitchers Quilt Club donated a quilt to the Stars & Stripes Museum to be raffled to raised funds for the museum.
Tickets are $1.00 each for 6 for $5.00 and are available at the museum during regular museum hours. The raffle will be held at the 2017 Liberty Days on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
The quilt club meets at the First General Baptist Church on Christian Drive in Bloomfield every Monday at 9:30 a.m. They are actively recruiting new members.
