Industrial Appreciation Donut Day!

Dexter, Missouri - Thursday was Industrial Appreciation Donut Day!  More than 1,700 donuts were distributed to area industries as part of the 31st Annual Chamber Industrial Appreciation Week.

Donuts were made by Faye's Baker in Dexter.

Shown in the photo are Rhonda Hall and Jason Banken picking up the first load of donuts to deliver to Tyson in Dexter.

Duley Machine Shop is Dexter's oldest industry.  They have been in business for 89 years.  Tyson Foods has been in Dexter for 80 years.

Other industries include: Republic Services (46 years), Specialty Engineering Corp (43 years), Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies (42 years), Stoddard County Sheltered Workshop (40 years), Holden Pallet Company (33 years), U.S. Poly Enterprises, Inc. (31 years), Bootheel Tool & Machinery (28 years), Central Pallet Supply (27 years), Pallet Recycling (23 years), BA Promotions & Marketing, LLC (20 years), Bootheel Recycling (11 years), and Global Fuels (10 years).

Ribbon Cutting for Bootheel Rentals

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Bootheel Rentals.

The business is located at 23 Highway AA in Poplar Bluff.

Bootheel Rentals offers tents and event rentals that include almost any item used for parties or special events.  They have bounce houses, table top games and wedding decorations.  They even have heavy equipment snd small tool rentals along with safety equipment.

Shown in the photo from left to right are: Alderman Jerry Corder, City Administrator Mark Stidham, Chamber Executive Director Hillary Starnes, Jennifer Whitesell with Three Rivers College, Mayor Joe Weber, Bootheel Rentals Sales/Assistant Manager Lisa Marshall and Chamber Director Stacy Blocker.

Dexter, Missouri - On Tuesday COOKIES were distributed to industries and the city of Dexter employees for everything they do to help with the industries.

Cookie Day was sponsored by Saint Francis Health Center.  Dexter Chamber President, Debbie Stidham and her band of helpers delivered cookies to employees at Dexter's most beloved industries.

2016 Stoddard County Pageants Slated for October 9th

Dexter, Missouri - The members of Xi Lambda Psi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi would like to announce the plans for the 2016 Stoddard County Pageants.

The pageants will be held Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Dexter High School Auditorium beginning at 2:00 p.m. 

The following categories will be included:  Little Miss (ages 3 to 7), Little Mister (ages 3 to 7), Petite Miss (ages 7 to 11, or in the fifth grade), Junior Miss (ages 11-14, grades 6, 7, and 8), and Miss (age 14 to 20, grade 9 and above). 

All contestants must be residents of a Stoddard County School District, or attend a Stoddard County School.  They must also be a reigning Queen, or attendant in their respective category or age group.  Any title bestowed from October 4, 2015 to the date of the pageant meets eligibility requirements.

Entry forms and rules will be available at all area High Schools and the Bunny Patch in Dexter. An optional rehearsal will be held on Friday, October 7, in the Dexter High School Auditorium

The deadline for entry is 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 7th.  The order in which entry forms are received has no bearing on the order of contestants’ appearance in the pageants.

Proceeds for the pageants will be used to help various community and county projects such as the Karen Pippins Scholarship, 18 Fore Life, Relay for Life, the Stoddard County Children's Home, the ARC Groups Homes, the local Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship, Christmas gifts for needy families, Dexter PAT, the Mother-to-Mother Program, and the Stoddard County Rescue Mission.

Seeking 1986 DHS Bearcat Football Players

Dexter, Missouri - If you were a 1986 Bearcat football team athlete or know a 1986 football player please contact Gavin Miller at the Dexter Middle School.

The 1986 Bearcat football team went 9-0 that season.  They are one of only three teams to have a perfect regular season and go undefeated during the regular season.  They finished their year with an 11-1 record.  The 1941 Bearcat football team had a record of 8-0 and the 1963 football team went 10-0.

On Friday, September 30th Homecoming for the Dexter Bearcats, the team will enjoy a catered meal in the Dexter High School cafeteria at 5:00 p.m.  Then at 6:30 p.m. they will walk through the Fall Community Tailgate area and watch the game from the press box side at 7:00 p.m. for the first half.  During the half-time festivities the team will be introduced at mid-field.

Letters went out this week from Mr. Miller; however they were to last known addresses.  If you are a member or know a member of that team please have them contact Gavin at (573) 614-1010.  They will need to know how many are coming to prepare the proper amount of food and get a list for the announcer for half-time.
