Mae Hall Park Day Pageant Scheduled for Saturday

Essex, Missouri - The Lion’s Club and E.A.D. will host the Mae Hall Park Day Pageant to be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Essex, Missouri. 

Deadline is Friday, August 12, 2016.  Attire will be casual or Sunday best.

The pageant will begin at 10:00 a.m. and if you are not pre-registered, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the pageant.

All contests are open to everyone between the ages of 1 day - 19 years as long as you are not married.

Baby Miss and Baby Mister is 0 to 11 months, Wee Miss and Wee Mister is 12 - 23 months, Tiny Miss and Tiny Mister is 2 - 3 years, Little Miss and Little Mister is 4 - 6 years, Young Miss is 7 - 11 years, Junior Miss is 12 - 15 years and Miss is 16 - 19 years.

Entry fee is $10.00 for Baby, Wee, and Tiny Entry. 

Entry fee for all other age categories is $20.00. 

There will be an additional $5.00 for entries after August 12, 2016.

If rain the pageant will be held at the Harvest Assembly of God Church.

Tropical Sno Hosts Fundraiser for Shawn Slavings

Dexter, Missouri - Tropical Sno SEMO located at 1503 West Business 60 in Dexter held a fundraiser for Shawn Slavings on Sunday, August 7th.

Shawn is currently battling an infectious abscess located within his brain. He has also tested positive for a fungal infection, meningitis, and a tick-borne illness.  Due to these illnesses he is unable to work at the present time.  His future medical stays and expenses are undetermined at this time, but his fight is far from over.

On Sunday evening Tropical Sno raised $1,025 for Shawn and his family.  100% of the proceeds were donated.

Shawn, his wife, and children greatly appreciate all the community game in support of their recent setback in life.  Shawn is a strong young man and will beat his illness, but it helps to have community support to ease the burden.

Thank you so everyone who came out and supported Shawn and his family!

Dexter, Missouri - Want a delicious meal at a great price? Head to the Dexter Senior Center located at   23 W. Stoddard St. in historic downtown Dexter.  You don't have to be a senior to eat. 

They serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and the cost is $3.50 for seniors and $5.00 for non-seniors.

This week’s menu for Monday, August 8th - Friday, August 12th.

Monday, August 8th - ham slice, chicken & dressing, sweet potatoes, black eyed peas, whole grain bread, and pineapple tidbits.

Tuesday, August 9th - scrambled eggs, sausage, oven potatoes w/ peppers & onions, biscuit & gravy, and fruit.

Wednesday, August 10th - meatloaf, baked chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, roll, and cherry delight.

Thursday, August 11th - pork chop, sweet & sour meatballs, brown rice, peas, whole grain bread, and banana pudding.

Friday, August 12th - cheeseburger, BBQ pork sandwich, Brussel sprouts, potato salad, bun, and cookie.

Bernie Senior Beta to Host Stuff A Bus for School Supplies

Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie Senior Beta Club will be hosting the Stuff-a-Bus event on Saturday, August 6th.

The event will be from 10 am to 4 pm at the Malden Wal-Mart.

The Beta Club will be loading the collecting school supplies on to a Bernie School bus during the event.  All supplies collected will be used by Bernie students.
