Dexter, Missouri - Man of the Year John William Ringer invaded the Keller Public Library Tuesday morning with Polar Bears & Penguins.  About three dozen children and twenty or more adults attended the popular Story Hour.

"It is most definitely the weather for it," commented one Mom.  "Doesn't feel like Spring at all and glad to be indoors today."

The youngsters were quite excited "Doing the Penguin Dance" as each child tried to waddle like a penguin across the floor.  The "Penguin March" and "Tacky the Penguin" songs were also hits among the children as they sang and danced and tried to splash like a penguin in the sea.

The children also learned about how to treat their book and how not to damage them at the library.  They must be careful when turning the pages or putting the books away.  Pages can get ripped and crushed very quickly and no one likes to check out a book that is damaged.

There are several pictures of the children and Mr. Ringer on the ShowMe Times Facebook page if you want to comment or share with your fellow Facebookers.

This Tuesday, March 26th, the Keller Public Library will present Conservation Agent, Mark Reed with Animal Furs & Hides at 10:15 a.m.  You will not want to miss this exciting Story Hour!

Dexter, Missouri - The DHS students of the Rotary Interact Club will be hosting a Bake Sale on Sunday, March 23rd.

These students who believe "Service Above Self" are raising money for their club for scholarships and other service projects.
The Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Dexter, which provides support and guidance, but the students are self-governing and self-supporting.

Each year, Interact Clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.

Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendship with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity.  They also demonstrate helpfulness and respect for others, understand the value of individual responsibility and hard work and advancing international understanding and goodwill.

This school year (2012-2013) mark’s the 50th Anniversary of the first chartered Interact Club.  If you would like to learn more about Dexter's Interact Club, find them on Facebook:  Dexter Rotary Interact.

The Bake Sale will be held in front of the Wal-Mart doors beginning at 8:00 a.m. Sunday.  They will have yummy treats, cakes and cookies.

Please purchase their homemade treats and delicious baked goods and support the students as they brave the weather on Sunday.

Dexter, Missouri - UPDATE:  The Parents as Teachers Strollerthon and 5k Walk/Run have an “ICKY WEATHER PLAN!”  It seems Mother Nature does not want to cooperate with the events planned in Southeast Missouri this weekend; however don’t despair!

They are not going to let a little rain or dreary weather ruin their fun.  The 5 k will follow the planned route, rain or shine, so 5k-ers, bundle up!  (Unfortunately, the BEC track is closed to the floor being re-finished.)  The rest of the morning’s events will be moved into the gym and cafeteria at Southwest.

Strollerthoners can "park" thier strollers in the cafeteria. They are welcome to use the back parking lot and enter through the cafeteria doors. Tyson's grill, snacks and refreshments will be available in the cafeteria. While Kid-Fest Booths will be in both the gym and cafeteria, and the egg hunt can be moved into the hallways if it's raining.

Now if the roads are ICY or SNOWY and we hope they are not, then they will postpone and update the public with a later date.  Please check the PAT or ShowMe Times Facebook pages for updates.
