Second Grade Students Earn Positive Office Referrals

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honored 2nd Grade students with Positive Office Referral certificates.

This award was presented to students who consistently showed the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN.

Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.

Amy James Hired as New Superintendent of Dexter Schools

The Dexter R-11 Board of Education is excited to announce that Mrs. Amy James will become the newest Superintendent of the Dexter R-11 School District effective July 1, 2020.  She will be replacing C.A. Counts, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Board President Jim Reiker stated, “We are very pleased to have someone of Mrs. James’ professional background and integrity to lead our district into the years ahead.  With her background as a Teacher, Principal, Special Services Director and Interim Superintendent and with her 20 years of education experience including seven years here in the Dexter District, Mrs. James is the ideal person to move our district forward, as we continue to strive to make the District the best it can be for our students, staff and the community.” 

Mrs. James commented on her selection, “I am honored to be chosen for the position of Superintendent of the  Dexter Public Schools.  I have grown tremendously as an educational leader because of my current years of service at the Dexter Schools. I look forward to working collaboratively with the school board, staff, parents, students, and the community.  In my leadership I will be committed to a “student first” mind set to continue moving our district in a positive direction and improving education outcomes for all students.”

Richland Yearbook Staff Receives Awards

Richland’s The Rebel yearbook staff recently received 14 total awards during the 2019 Quill & Scroll National Yearbook Contest, including four Sweepstakes (first place) Awards.

The yearbook staff as a whole also received the Blue and Gold Award Staff Excellence for Comprehensive Visuals along with various photography and writing awards.

Ritch, Duffie, Blunt, and King all received Sweepstakes Awards for being the overall winners in various photo categories.

Ritch received the most awards of any student in the contest, with seven, including one sweepstakes, two second places, two third places, and two honorable mentions – all for photography.

Second Place for Clubs/Organization Photography 

Third Place for Sports Action Photography

Devin Duffie: Sweepstakes Award for Academic Photography 

Alesia Eaton: Second Place for Caption Writing

Allison Jones: Third Place for Clubs/Organization Photography 

Emily Blunt: Sweepstakes Award for Student Life Photography 

Honorable Mention for Sports Action Photography 

Liza King: Sweepstakes Award for Sports Action Photography
