Williams Baptist University seniors Melanie McKuin of Dexter, Missouri and C.J. Cara of Bartlett, Tennessee are this year’s Homecoming Queen and King at Williams Baptist University. The two were crowned during Homecoming festivities November 2, 2019/
McKuin, an English major, is the daughter of Barry and Kim McKuin. She is a 2016 Dexter High School graduate and spent many hours on the basketball court at the Bearcat Event Center.
She was also named 2016 Winter Homecoming Queen at DHS.
She was member of the All-State Girls Basketball Team, First Team All-District Girls Basketball Team, SEMO All Conference Girls Basketball Team, SEMO Conference Player of the Year and Standard Democrat Player of the Year during her junior year as a Bearcat! She was a McDonalds Shootout All-Tournament Team member and Lady Royals Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team team member for both her junior and senior years.
Cara is the son of Chris and Penny Cara, and he is majoring in liberal arts, with a concentration in biology and psychology.
Also representing the senior class on the court were Tori Johnson and Andrew Adcock. Johnson, who is from Clinton, Ark., is the daughter of Chris & Melissa Johnson. Adcock is from Bismarck, Ark. and he is the son of Pat Adcock and Dewana Allen.
Representing the junior class were Tatum Little of Harrison, Ark., and Gavin Wells of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Little is the daughter of Tim and Tori Little. Wells is the son of Paul and Kimberly Wells.
Kalynn Hopkins and Arthur Lee Rogers, Jr., represented the sophomore class on the court. Hopkins is from Searcy, Ark. and she is the daughter of Michelle Hopkins and the late Kale Hopkins. Rogers is from Camden, Ark., and he is the son of Arthur Rogers, Sr., and Donald & Kerrie Terry.
And representing the freshman class were Kaidaija Perry and Rhett Womack. Perry is from Jonesboro, Ark. and she is the daughter of Erika Walls-Goodlow and Quantralis Perry. Womack, from Arkadelpia, Ark., is the son of Brandi & Richard Womack.
Members of the Homecoming court were selected by a vote of the WBU student body, as were the king and queen.
WBU is a private, Christian university in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Jackson, Missouri - The annual All-District Band tryouts were held on November 5, 2019 at Jackson High School. Several Dexter High School students were selected!
These students were selected for the 2019 All-District Jazz Band.
They are lead tenor sax Nate Mangum, 2nd tenor sax Alex Dugan, bari sax Gracie Bess, lead trumpet Tucker Kyle, 3rd trumpet John Fortner, lead trombone Benji Rybolt, 2nd trombone Alex Fitzpatrick, alt bass TJ Wade, drums 1 Abby DeMent, and drums 2 Shea Baker.
