Bloomfield School Board Meeting Minutes - Monday, October 9, 2017
Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield School Board met on Monday, October 9, 2017 for its regular October Board meeting.  

Students, Eli Dixon and Logan Parks made a presentation to the board about what it takes to show animals at the area fairs.  Both of these young men did an excellent job!

The board approved the following in regular session:
1.  the District audit report
2.  work session date of October 30th at 7pm
3.  the bus driver handbook
4.  alternative classroom procedures
5.  to solicit food service bids

John Newell discussed with the board the information he gained at the Missouri School Boards Association fall meeting.

During the Superintendent's report, Toni Hill went over the September membership for the district and MAP/EOC/ACT data. Shown in the photo below are the results.

During executive session, the board approved:

1.  Substitutes Maggie Lowery and Taylure Harris, pending background check and all paperwork
2.  Hire Kaylin Goins as the alternative classroom aide

Positive Office Referrals at Bernie Elementary School

Bernie, Missouri - Kellie Owens, Bernie R-12 School District has announced the students who received Positive Office Referrals for week October 2, 2017

Students who earn such an honor also received a Subway Sandwich Gift Card and a POR Certificate.

These students were referred for displaying positive behavior!

Each student who receives a positive office referral also receives a certificate for a free meal to Subway!

Kelsey Smiley is a 5th grader in Mr. Jones’ class.  Kelsey was referred by Ms. Johnson for helping another student.  

Jase Foster is a 5th grader in Mrs. Jones’ class.  Jase was referred by Mrs. Collier for having a positive attitude and being kind to other students.  

Zane Wilson is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class.  Zane was referred by Elementary Secretary, Mrs. Debbie.  Mrs. Debbie referred Zane for using great manners and showing kindness to another student.  

Cameron Mekan is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class.  Cameron was also referred by Mrs. Debbie for using great manners and being kind to another student.  

Chris Crocker is a 6th grader in Mrs. Hare’s class.  Mrs. Noe referred Chris for returning money found on the floor to another student.

Preston Williams is a 6th grader and was referred by Ms. Johnson for helping another student at lunch.

Kerri Botsch is a 5th grader in Mr. Jones’ class.  Kerri was referred by Mrs. Garner for working hard and having a positive attitude.  

Isabella Crocker is a 5th grader in Mr. Jones’ class.  Isabella was referred by Mrs. Noe for always working hard, helping other student, and always smiling.

Bailey Null is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class.  Mrs. Garner referred Bailey for working hard and having a positive attitude.  

Travis Cooper is a 5th grader in Mrs. Collier’s class.  Mrs. Collier referred Travis for picking up for others at the end of the day while the rest of the class left the room.  

Kara Oliver is a 2nd grader in Mrs. Huber’s class.  Mrs. Huber referred Kara for having a positive attitude, always working hard, and following directions.

Ellie Graham is a 2nd grader in Mrs. Huber’s class.  Mrs. Huber referred Ellie for always helping others with a smile on her face.  

Eli Crow is a 3rd grader in Ms. Snider’s class.  Mrs. Garner referred Eli for helping a staff member and using great manners.  

Shawn Beasley is a 2nd grader in Mrs. Dockins’ class.  Mrs. Huber referred Shawn for always working hard and using great manners.  

Lacey Young is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Arnold’s class.  Mrs. Arnold referred Lacey for being responsible and returning money that she found to its owner.  

Faith Felice is a 3rd grader in Mrs. Arnold’s class.  Mrs. Arnold referred Faith for always being very respectful and working hard every day.

Southwest Elementary Students Earn POR and Bus Referrals

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors students with Positive Office Referral certificates and Bus Referrals for week of October 2, 2017.

This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.

Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.

Central Elementary Students Raise Money for Hurricane Relief
Dexter, Missouri - Students at Central Elementary comprising of grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th recently raised money in effort to help a Hurricane victim.

"The students asked if we could do something to raise money," commented Megan Miller.  "So we had a "hat day" at school where students paid $1.00 to wear a hat."

Central Elementary students raised $280 on September 20, 2017.

"The money was used to buy a Wal Mart gift card and was sent directly to Mrs. Becky Covington in Houston, Texas," continued Miller.  "She is originally from Puxico and I had communicated with her to use the money to help students devastated by the hurricane in her local school.  She was very appreciative of the donation."

Elks September 2017 Students of the Month
Bell City, Missouri - Larry White, Dexter Elks Lodge member, presented certificates and a $50 checks for Savings Bonds to Bell City seniors Gage Brashear and Aleigha Blagg.

Gage is the son of Arthur and Lynn Brashear.

Aleigha is the daughter of Nathan and Kay Blagg.

Gage and Aleigha are competing with honorees from the other county schools for the Dexter Elks Students of the Year.

Both students, along with their parents and Bell City High School Counselor, Jessica Cloninger, will be honored at a banquet to be held at the Dexter Elks Lodge later next spring.

The Elks Students of the Year will be announced at the 2018 spring banquet.
