First Responders Share Lunch with Middle School Students
Poplar Bluff, Missouri - About 25 city and county First Responders shared lunch with Middle School students on Friday in remembrance of September 11th in honor of Patriot Day.
 
There was representation from the Butler County Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and EMS, along with the Poplar Bluff Police Department and Fire Department, plus Rural/Metro. Guests received 'thank you' cards from students.
 
Lunch was provided by Chartwells School Dining Services. "It's been 25 years since I had a school lunch," Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs joked.

Each student showed great character on the school bus for the month of August. Grades Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade shown in the photo.

Dalton Rickel Earns Eagle Scout Rank
Dexter, Missouri - Dalton Kyle Rickel has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

His accomplishment was celebrated in a Court of Honor on Monday, August 24, 2015.

Dalton is the 18 year-old son of Sheri Rickel of Dexter and Daniel Rickel of Sparta, Missouri

He is a member of Troop 4200, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church of Dexter.

For his Eagle project, Dalton renovated the disabled hunters duck blind at Otter Slough.  Dalton is a 2015 graduate of Dexter High School.

Congratulations Dalton!

Students Initiated Into Quill and Scroll International Society

Essex, Missouri - Richland R-1 School students took part in a candle lighting initiation process for Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for high school journalists during the Red Carpet Yearbook Reveal party held at the school.

This is the first group from Richland School to be inducted into the international honorary society for high school journalists.  All five students met the stringent demands of the society for joining and were approved by the Executive Director.

"Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists was organized April 10, 1926, at the University of Iowa by renowned pollster George H. Gallup and a group of high school advisers for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and academics."

The 2014-2015 Richland Rebel Yeller Yearbook won 21 national and international photography awards plus other local and state awards.
