January Students of the Month at Bernie
Bernie, Missouri - Each month students are chosen as Students of the Month at both the junior high and high school in Bernie.  This month six students were honored as January Students of the Month.

Shown in the photo from left to right are: Kayla Gates 12th grade, Adesyn Shelton 11th grade, Kayli Tanner 10th grade, Jeri Ann Glass 9th grade, Devin Barnes 8th grade, and Allisa Redding 7th grade.

January Character Trait Winners at Bernie Elementary
Bernie, Missouri - Each month Mrs. Summer McGowan teaches a Guidance Counseling session at Bernie Public Schools for each class and the lesson stems from our character trait of the month.

The students are supposed to take what they learn from the character trait instruction and apply it to their daily lives in how they treat others and make decisions.

At the end of the month, each teacher gets to nominate one student from their classroom they felt most consistently displayed the character trait of the month.  The students are recognized for their accomplishment and are given a character trait pencil.

January character trait was INTEGRITY!

December Character Trait Winners at Bernie Elementary

Elks Lodge - December Students of the Month
Bernie, Missouri - Each month the Dexter Elks Lodge choose Students of the Month.  Larry White, Dexter Elks Lodge member presented certificates and $50 Savings Bonds to Bernie seniors Lari Spitzer and Caleb Ellenburg. 

They are the Elks Lodge December Students of the Month!

Lari is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Spitzer.  Caleb is the son of Allan and Tommie Ellenburg.

Lari and Caleb are competing with honorees from the other county schools for the Dexter Elks Students of the Year. Both students, along with their parents and counselor, Mindy Jackson, will be honored with a banquet to be held at the Dexter Elks Lodge later next spring. The Elks Students of the Year will be announced at the spring banquet.

Congratulations Lari and Caleb!!  The Bernie community is extremely proud of you and your accomplishments!!

Bernie FFA to Host Chili Dinner, Cook-Off and Live Auction
Bernie, Missouri - The Bernie Future Farmers of America students would like to invite the public to their FFA Chili Dinner and Auction on Saturday, December 6th at 6 p.m. at the Bernie School Cafeteria.

This event is a fundraiser and admission is only $5.00 with children five and under FREE.  The meal will include a bowl of delicious chili, a dessert, and drinks.

The live auction will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The FFA will also host a chili cook-off.  Any business or family is encouraged to participate.  There will be prizes and of course BRAGGING RIGHTS!  Entry fee is $10 and make enough for at least 25 people.  You must also have a list of ingredients for the judges and public to view.

Categories are Hottest Chili, Best Chili, Best Disaster (that means it looks awful, but tastes great!), and Best Decorations (you can decorate your booth area!).
