Yesterday some very deserving students at Dexter T.S. Hill Middle School enjoyed an afternoon off from school and headed to Beggs Family Farm.
To meet the requirements to enjoy this outing, the students in 6th-8th grade must have C’s or better on their report card, missed fewer than three school days (21 hours), and had zero discipline referrals.
For the first quarter of the 2012-2013 school year, there were 249 students who qualified for the “Headed to the Top Incentive.”
Headed to the Top is an incentive for all TS Hill Middle School students to do the right thing and excel in the classroom. Each quarter there will be an incentive trip of some kind in order to reward those students who have shown they are truly Headed to the Top of the class!
Shown in the photo above are some of the students picking out a pumpkin. The picture below shows the whole group of students who got to enjoy the outing to Beggs Family Farm.

There was a great turn out last night at Bloomfield High School for the school’s annual “Yee-Haw” Choir Concert. Yee-haw is an annual fundraising event to help support the BHS Music Department.
Under the direction of Terri Rose, the Bloomfield High School Choir delivered a very fun evening to a rather larger crowd. Many people showed up in order to help support the choir and also to enjoy the great “corn pone humor” and Yee Haw music!
There was something for everyone at last night’s attendance.
Whether you’re favorite was a beautiful duet of “How Blue” by Michaela Heaton and Casey Duncan, or a very entertaining “Elivia” by some of the Bloomfield High School “Bestie Boys.”

At last night’s event there were special guest musicians: Tony Thorn and Buddy Heaton.
All the members of the BHS Choir got into the festivities by not only singing “Yee-Haw” tunes but also sporting some Yee-Haw clothes.
Many girls and boys had on flannel shirts with a cowboy hat to put the icing on the cake. There were even some overalls worn by a few members.
This annual fundraiser is great for the choir and it’s something that many people enjoy and look forward to.
If you’ve never attended the Yee-Haw festivities you should give the annual event a visit next year when it comes back to town.
A good time was enjoyed by all in attendance!

The members of the Dexter FFA chapter recently attended the 85th annual National FFA Convention. The convention was held October 24-27th in Indianapolis, IN.
The Dexter FFA members joined a record setting 55,725 FFA members and guests who attended this year’s convention. The members from Dexter attended convention sessions where they were able to listen to National FFA officers, FFA national band and chorus, and FFA talent.
Scott Hamilton was one of many speakers that were in attendance at the convention. Scott is an Olympic gold medalist in figure skating.
The Dexter members were also on the National convention courtesy corps and assisted at the National Floriculture Career Development Event. They were invited to present flowers from the contest to patients at the Roudebush Indianapolis VA Medical Center. Members also attended a leadership workshop for personal development and the FFA Stars over America presentation.
The Dexter FFA members were also fortunate enough to watch Caleb Johns, Dexter FFA member, receive his American FFA Degree.
This was a great experience for the Dexter Future Farmers of America and all who were in attendance enjoyed the 85th annual National Convention.
