

The 2019 Bernie 8th Grade Volleyball Tournament will be held on March 25th and 26th. Games will begin at 4:00 P.M.
On Monday night they will use two gyms, Pool A in the High School and Pool B in the Junior high gym. On Tuesday for tournament play first and second rounds will be also played in both gyms beginning at 4 p.m. The finals will be played in the high school gym.
Trophies will be given for 1st and 2nd place winners.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats (0-2) just couldn't come back in a 12-2 loss to the Redbirds on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. East Carter jumped out to a 5-1 lead before earning 7 runs in the fifth to cinch the game.
Caleb Hoggard held the mound for Dexter surrendering five runs on seven hits over 3 1/2 innings striking out two.
Trey Johnson and Haden Hillis entered the game as relief throwing 1 1/3 innings respectively for the 'Cats.
Dexter struggled to contain the high-powered offense by the Redbirds giving up 12 total runs.
East Carter scored seven runs in the fifth inning. The hit two home runs on the day. One in the second inning and one in the firth inning.
Luke Thurston went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead Dexter in hits.
Alex Kearbey Jordan Douglas each had two hits, a home run and a pair of RBIs to lead the Redbirds under new coach Ethan Boyer. Dalton Rudd and Cody Hampton both had doubles. No errors were committed by East Carter.

Dexter, Missouri - The Clearwater Tigers meant business on Saturday afternoon. They defeated Dexter 14-4 in 6 innings.
The 'Cats fell behind early and couldn't come back as they struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Tigers giving up 14 runs.
In the first inning Clearwater drew a walk and scored one urn. They scored seven runs in the second inning.
Ethan Kincy started on the mound for Dexter. He surrendered six runs on two hits over 1 1/3 innings, striking out two Tigers.
Tyler Wright, Garrett Henson, and Haden Hillis each contributed relief for the 'Cats.
Luke Thurston went 2 for 4 at the plate to lead Dexter in hits. They stole nine bases as a team as two players stole more than one. Hillis led the way with four total stolen bases.
No errors were committed by the Bearcats.
Clearwater totaled 16 hits and tore up the base paths stealing at least eight bases.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School varsity baseball team fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to take out the Malden Green Wave. They fell short by only one point 8-7 on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at East City Park in Dexter. Malden is the 2018 defending Class 3 state champions.
In the bottom of the third inning, Dexter tied things up at two. Despite their home opener loss they collected seven hits. Malden tallied 12 hits.
After Malden scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, the 'Cats answered with three of their own on a double by Garrett Henson and a stolen base by Ethan Kincy.
The Green Wave scored on a double 1-1 count bringing home a runner. The 'Cats answered when Henson doubled on a 0-1 count scoring one run. Dawson Jones singled driving in another run.
Malden pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning.
Luke Thurston started on the mound for Dexter. He went three innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking one. Riley Slusher was charged with the loss permitting three runs, none were earned, on one hit with two strikeouts and three walks in one inning.
Jones, Peyton Driskill, and Riley Slusher each contributed in relief for the Bearcats.
Ethan Kincy went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the 'Cats in hits.
Haden Hillis led the way in stolen bases earning him 3 steals. He also scored 3 runs but was 0 for 3 at the plate included getting hit by a pitch early on.
