
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announced that hunters checked 6,158 turkeys during Missouri's fall firearms turkey season, which ran Oct. 1 - 31. Last year's fall firearms turkey harvest total was 5,680. Top harvest counties for the 2015 fall firearms turkey season were Dent with 210, Greene with 159, and Franklin with 148.
Fall archery turkey hunting continues until Nov. 13 and then resumes again from Nov. 25 through Jan. 15, 2016.

Dexter, Missouri - The middle school Lady Cats 7th and 8th grade basketball teams earned wins at home Tuesday evening defeating the Twin Rivers Royals.
The seventh grade Cats beat Twin Rivers 36-20 and the eighth grade girls defeated Twin Rivers 33-26.
In 7th grade action the Lady Cats tied with the Lady Royals in the first period. The Lady Royals outscored Dexter in the second period. Half-time score was Lady Royals 13 –Dexter 10.
Mikayla Dodson had a team-high 19 points for Dexter. Karley Keirsey collected 11 points and Sydney Asberry recorded 6 points.
Keirsey hit one 3-pointer for the Cats.

They opened their season at home against the Twin Rivers Royals from Fisk. The 8th grade Bearcats defeated the Royals 58-27.
They traveled to Woodland for their second game. The 8th grade team won 42-13.

Dexter, Missouri - Jackie Kiger is a junior at Dexter High School and is the daughter of Jerry and Karen Kiger.
She has been a member Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years and Student Council for three years.
She has lettered in Cheerleading, Lady Cats Dance Team, and Track & Field.
She is the granddaughter of Don and Peggy Davies, Robert Kyer, and Breneda Henley.
Her hobbies are cheer, dance, track and hunting. She attends First Baptist Church.
After high school graduation she plans to attend college.
Our Dexter Cheerleaders motivate our football team and Bearcat Fans each Friday night and we are very exciting to see them cheer in front of the home town crowd or at an away game! We are very proud of them and glad they are on OUR team!
Their routines have many components including tumbling, jumps, cheers, stunts, and dance and they are there for us each and every game, rain or shine, hot or cold!! We love our Bearcat cheerleaders!
