
Bloomfield, Missouri – The Lady ‘Cats of Dexter claimed back-to-back SCAA Tournament Titles by defeated the Bernie Lady Mules two years in a row.
“I try to subscribe to the fact and get my players to subscribe to the fact that every game is a championship game,” commented head volleyball coach Carmen Morgan. “Then when you get in championship games you should be ready.”
Ready they were with a record of 27-2-1 they hammered the #2 seeded Mules 25-11, 25-18.
“This is a good group of girls,” Morgan said. “We work hard and are where we want to be right now except for the serves. Everybody is contributing. When you are in a team sport everybody has a role to play and these girls know their role and are all contributing. It is imperative we have the right now.”
Jessica Lindsey rallied the Bearcats with 11 kills. Shyann Jines added 7 more and Krysten Garrison and Kendall Adams each tallied 2 kills.
Brittany Brown tallied 3 digs. Jessica Lindsey and Julia Hahn each had 2 digs.
“We came out and played a little big of defense,” according to Morgan. “Bernie picked their game up the second set.”
The Dexter JV Lady ‘Cats also won their championship game defeated #2 seeded Woodland Cardinals 25-7, 25-13.
“Those little girls played their hearts out!” Morgan said. “ They are a good team and I have been proud of them all year. They move as well on the floor as any group of kids I have ever had and they work well together. The only game they have lost so far is to Farmington. They have taken care of business and I am very pleased with them.”
Dexter will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Notre Dame High School. The game was originally slated for Monday; however due to inclement weather was rescheduled for Wednesday. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
On a further note the Dexter Varsity Volleyball team earned a top seed in District play with a complete article and brackets coming soon. District play begins Monday, October 20th.

Players selected to the SCAA all-tournament team included: Advance's Hannah Clark, Advance's Alanis Below, Bernie's Kayli Tanner, Bernie's Addie Shelton, Bernie's Morgan Baker, Bloomfield's Chelsea Delay, Bloomfield's Lindsey Young, Dexter's Jessica Lindsey, Dexter's Shyann Jines, Dexter's Krysten Garrison, Dexter's Julia Hahn and Woodland's Krista Rhodes.


Bloomfield, Missouri – The Dexter Lady ‘Cats defeated the Bloomfield Wildcats 25-17, 25-13 securing a repeat appearance in the championship game of the SCAA varsity volleyball tournament for the second straight year. The gym was full electrified with CAT spirit featuring Bearcat and Wildcat student body cheering section that kept the crowd cheering.
“I love the games where people are up,” commented Dexter’s head volleyball coach Carmen Morgan. “We have a really good group of boys. It’s not a large group, but they make a lot of noise and we appreciate them coming. Bloomfield has a good group of boys too and it makes it fun to play with a crowd like that.”
In the second semifinal game of the evening, the Bernie Mules were victorious over the Advance Hornets 25-21, 25-22.
Bernie was the 2012 conference champions, Dexter the 2013 champs. They compete Friday evening for the title in Bloomfield. Game time 8:00 p.m.
“Bloomfield has improved a lot since we played them early in the season,” stated Morgan. “Lindsey Young is putting the ball down well for them and she’s got that left arm so she is kind of a hard one to catch. Lefties are always hard to deal with in volleyball.”
Dexter’s Jessica Lindsey earned a team-high 10 kills. Shyann Jines and Krysten Garrison each tallied six kills.
Julia Hahn had 11 assists and Krysten Garrison had 10 assists.
Kristen Garrison, Julia Hahn and Brittany Brown each served one ace.
Dexter is the #1 seed in the SCAA volleyball tournament and is currently ranked #6 in Class 3 according to the latest state rankings. Bernie is ranked #9 and is the #2 seed with a record of 20-8. Dexter’s record is 26-2-1.
“We just have to go out and play our game,” Morgan said. “We want to get rid of the unforced errors, stay up and stay after it.”
In JV action Dexter defeated Bloomfield 25-7, 25-12 and will play Woodland tonight around 7:00 p.m. in Bloomfield for the JV title. Woodland defeated Advance 25-10, 25-14.
In 3rd place varsity action, the Advance Hornets take on the Bloomfield Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The JV Hornets will also compete against the JV Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. for third place.


The Lady ‘Cats began a little on the slow side falling behind 4-1 in the first set, but rallied back quickly and scored the next eight points to move ahead. The Lady 'Cats never looked back and brought home the win.
Krysten Garrison, a freshman at Dexter High School, put together an incredible night of volleyball action. She had a combined effort of 12 kills, six in each set and 3 assists.
Brittany Brown served six aces for Dexter while Lexie Barnes tallied three aces.
Julia Hahn tallied 13 of the 18 assists for Dexter. She also recorded one dig.
Dexter Lady ‘Cats will play Bloomfield Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the semifinal of the SCAA Volleyball Tournament. Bloomfield defeated Woodland 20-25, 25-16, 25-12. Bernie #2 seed will play #3 Advance Thursday at 8 p.m. Bernie eliminated Richland 25-13, 25-9.
JV Action
Bloomfield upset Puxico 25-18, 25-23 in the junior varsity action. They play #1 seeded Dexter JV in the semifinal game set for Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 5 p.m. Advance defeated Bernie 25-15, 25-22. The second junior varsity semifinal between #2 seeded Woodland and #3 Advance follows at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Dexter, Missouri – The Lady ‘Cats of T.S. Hill Middle School are on a winning streak. Dexter’s 8th grade team dominated Doniphan 49-16 and in the 7th grade match-up the Lady ‘Cats defeated Doniphan 38-30. Both teams are 2-0 on the season.
Eighth grader Natalie Sitze tallied a team-high 15 points in the first half of the contest and hit both of Bearcat’s 3-pointers. Cheylee Mosby earned her an impressive 13 points against Doniphan.
Maycie Martin tallied six points, Maci McBride calculated five points, Keirsten Keirsey recorded four points, and Chloe Clark added three points.
In 7th grade action, Alexa Werneck earned the team-high 14 points and Margo Nea recorded 12 points. Shea Baker added six points; Maddie Slaton recorded four points and Annie Slaton tallied two points.
Coach Eric Sitze and Coach Chad Allen's teams provided an exciting night of middle school basketball. They defeated East Prairie in their home opener58-16 in the 8th grade contest and 40-16 in the 7th grade contest. Looks like a great season ahead of us with Bearcat wins!
The middle school Lady ‘Cats will be back in action on Monday, October 12th hosting the Woodland Lady Cardinals.
Game time is 6:00 p.m.

Dexter, Missouri -The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football athletes. Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player and one defensive player who will be featured as Players of the Week. Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.
The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the ShowMe Times Players of the Week #7 against the New Madrid County Central Eagles are Matt Sims and Ethan Stevens.
Matt tallied a game-high 16 tackles against the Eagles. He is a senior at Dexter High School and gives 100% on the field. He is your Defensive Player of the Weeek!

Ethan Stevens was instrumental in defeating New Madrid. He grabbed an interception and ran for 78 yards for a Bearcat touchdown. He also returned two punts for 29 yards, rushed for 4 yards, threw a pass for 22 yards, received the ball for 53 yards, and punted the ball twice for 46 yards. Ethan also had 7 tackles defensively. He is a senior at Dexter High School and is your Offensive Player of the Week.
